When your whole life has revolved around racing what happens when it’s time to unpin the number and exit the bubble of the pro peloton? The basic fundamentals of what makes an athlete who they are – focus, drive, ambition, self proclaimed narcissism – simply don’t go away. In a rare post ride interview at David Millar’s home, overlooked by Rocacorba, Mike Cotty (The Col Collective) sit down with himself and long time friend and business partner Richard Pearce to delve deeper into the creation of Velo Club Rocacorba, moments of the past and what the next chapter in Millar’s life now holds. A video with David Millar climbing the famous Rocacorba near Girona can be found here. Video produced by The Col Collective Visit the Castelli website for more details on Chpt./// collection.

Within a stone’s throw of the beautiful Costa Brava and Pyrénées, the medieval town of Girona has been home to many of the world’s professional cyclists for close to two decades, offering the perfect environment for a cyclist looking to hone their form on quiet roads and with favourable year round temperatures. Italian manufacturer Castelli has developed together with Team Sky rider Elia Viviani a customised skinsuit the Italian cyclist will wear at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as he attempts to win Omnium gold. Viviani has worked in the wind tunnel of the Polytechnic University of Milan and tried 15 different suits and fabrics to find the best fit for the Olympics. “We tested 15 different textiles and cuts to find the one that suits him the best.” (Steve Smith, Castelli brand manager) “The models developed for Viviani has been developed from what we have been studied and developed in a long time”, says Steve Smith, Castelli brand manager. “We tested 15 different textiles and cuts to find the one that suits him the best, both for the individual and group races as the fabrics don’t perform in the same way with different speeds.” Viviani will compete in the Omnium, which features six different track racing disciplines, meaning that Castelli has developed multiple skinsuits, with each designed for a specific event. In the wind tunnel the 27-year-old tested the skinsuits ...

First used in the 1940 Giro d’Italia, it has witnessed more race action than many of its peers put together, and a monument at the top is dedicated to the great Italian champion Fausto Coppi, who was the first to summit the Pordoi in the Giro no less than five times. On paper, this may look like an easy ride, but only until the ...
