Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing) won the inaugural edition of the Dubai Tour on Saturday after successfully defending the race lead from his opening time trial stage win. Phinney’s teammate Steven Cummings came into second place, 15 seconds behind, while the Danish Olympic Champion (Omnium) on Team Garmin Sharp, Lasse Norman Hansen, was third 17 seconds behind. It brought people out onto the streets. We hope to grow the event next year.” Everybody seemed to like what they saw in the first edition of the Dubai Tour, especially local sheiks underwriting the four-day race.
