Bédoin, Castelli cycling, Haute Route, Mont Vetoux, News -

When the final road race event has ended in Sweden and the autumn leaves start falling from the trees, we head down to Provence to extend the season with a three-day race leading up to legendary Mont Ventoux. A mountain that takes no prisoners. The roundabout in Bédoin While the summer heat still lingers in Provence, a bunch of gentlemen play Pétanque in the park. The narrow street is lined with maple trees and a woman stops the traffic so that the schoolchildren can cross. A little further up are some bicycle shops and a sign at the roundabout shows that the road on the right leads up to Mont Ventoux, 1909 meters above sea level. Il Lombardia is the final Monument of the five in the cycling season and it is usually the last major outing for the pro riders before they take their off-season break. The ‘race of the falling leaves’ was a real battle that had been won by the great climbing specialist Thibaut Pinot who set a show with Vincenzo Nibali. But the real surprise was Egan Bernal of Team Sky who took the front of the group on the descent after the brutal Muro di Sormano climb. Now the season is finished but we are pretty sure that the Colombian will be one of the protagonists of the next year. Enjoy our photo gallery! Photos: Getty Images / Edoardo Civiero

The wake-up. The routine that begins again and repeats itself for three weeks: eating breakfast, getting ready and then heading by bus to the start area. All this and much more happens every morning during the Giro d’Italia — and by now almost every racer goes through the motions without even thinking, before the day really starts and with it the hard effort in the saddle, which will end only in the late afternoon. But back to the team bus area, where the first crowds are gathering. And how could it be any different? Every cycling fan circles in red on the calendar the day in May when the Corsa Rosa comes to town and looks forward eagerly to breathing in the excitement of elite-level cycling, hearing the noise of the wheels on the asphalt, and being able to watch his or her own heroes from just a few centimetres away. This is how it was during the three Sicilian stages, which re-embraced the Giro d’Italia after the extraordinary interlude in Israel. It’s a colourful invasion, with pink as the dominant colour to celebrate the arrival of the 101st edition of the most beloved race in Italy. Beginning in the ...

ATTENTION! You are about to read the one-day journey of a Canadian lady attending a cycling photo shoot in the Dolomites. This may content pastries, coffees and mountains. Reader’s discretion is advised. 7:30 AM— leaving the office Leaving the headquarters moment before the first ray of dawn, crisp morning air, we knew the day wasn’t going to be warm and hoped the changing weather of the mountains would be on our side. Heading up and down through the meandering roads leading right into the monumental Dolomites, Corvara in Badia. 9:15 AM— the arrival All the way to get there until the first location, a continual feeling of amazement inhabited me. The powerful attraction led by the numerous peaks (no wonder it’s a UNESCO world heritage site) made me feel so little but such in peaceful state of mind at the same time. 9:45 AM— meeting with the crew … but first coffee I could then feel that even if the weather were not likely to be on our side, we would have a good day. The models, the team and the Gruber’s (Ashley and Jered, photographers and dear friend of Castelli), everyone had an optimistic energy ready to chase the sun and authentic ...
