Team Sky and Castelli today unveiled the new kit for the 2019 season and revealed a return to black for the team’s tenth year in the peloton. The kit incorporates a blue to black gradient, with the blue being inspired by the team’s commitment to Sky Ocean Rescue (SOR). The SOR logo is also prominent on the collar of the jersey, as the team continues to raise awareness of Sky’s campaign to help inspire simple, everyday changes to stop our oceans from drowning in plastic. The jersey retains the iconic line on the back, a defining feature that has been ever-present since the team’s inception, while rider names have moved back to the side of the jersey, echoing the team’s previous designs. Team Sky Principal Sir Dave Brailsford said: “We’ve enjoyed another fantastic year of collaboration with Castelli and are delighted with our new look for 2019.” “Castelli share our attitude and outlook in their approach to research and development and we have been continually impressed by their pioneering work from the moment our relationship started. They have played a major role in our success over the past two seasons and are a big part of Team Sky.” “This year’s ...

2018 UCI Road World Championships, castelli, gistory, innsbruck, jersey, News, rainbow, UCI road world championships, worlds -

The very first championships were held in 1921 in Copenhagen, Denmark. However, the only event that was contested that year was the men’s road race for amateurs. The first professional world championships took place in July 1927, hosted at the Nürburgring in Germany, where Alfredo Binda led an Italian one-two-three (Alfredo Binda, Costante Girardengo, Domenico Piemontesi) to win the first of his three world titles.   Alfredo Binda won three world titles in his career (1927, 1930 and 1932). A record later equalled by Rik Van Steenbergen, Eddy Merckx, Óscar Freire and Peter Sagan).   A massive breakthrough for women’s cycling came in 1958, when the women’s road world championships were introduced in Reims, France. The Luxembourg rider Elsy Jacobs got to pop the Champagne after becoming the first women’s world champion, ahead of Tamara Novikova and Mariya Lukshina of the Soviet Union.   Elsy Jacobs waves to the crowd after winning the first women’s cycling World Road Race Championship in Reims, France, 1958.   Over the years, further categories and races (men’s and women’s: Junior, Under 23 and Elite) were added to the program, which now spreads over an eight-day period in September, starting just one week after the final grand tour of the ...

– FIND THE INSPIRATIONAL VIDEO’S BELOW – The 2018 edition of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel will kick off on July 1 in the Badia valley of Italy’s far north. More than 9,000 riders will climb out of the darkness, just before dawn breaks over the surrounding limestone peaks of the Dolomites. The race is a must for every serious cyclist. The landscape of the Dolomites is so important and so inspiring that it’s protected by UNESCO, and every year the Maratona has an environment-related theme. The race’s patron, Michil Costa, is what the Italians call a “personaggio,” a character. His goal is to get people to connect with nature, to contemplate their place in it, and to appreciate not only its fragile beauty but also what that beauty can do for our own fragilities. Riding here might be tough on the legs, but it does wonders for a stressed-out mind. Because Castelli’s head office is near the Badia valley, Castelli staff live, ride, run or ski in these mountains all year. Finding the right elements and inspiration for the Maratona jersey was the motivational state that brought the 2018 kit design from idea to reality.  “Getting the call ...
