Aero race jersey, custom clothing, custom team clothing, free aero race bibshort, Product talk, servizio corse -

Story by Chris Hovenden | cyclingweekly.co.uk Custom kit goes much further than just teams and clubs nowadays. When it comes to making cycling kit, the Italian company has an impressive pedigree. Castelli started manufacturing clothing in 1876, in the 1940s it created custom jerseys for Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi, and it claims to have been the first to use the current sublimation printing process back in 1983. If you choose Castelli’s Pro Issue range you’ll get the same kit as supplied to the WorldTour Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling Team. However, if you are looking for a more forgiving fit there’s the Team issue range that is aimed at club riders. The on test Pro Issue custom kit looks top drawer and feels high quality to the touch. Costing £74.99 (plus VAT and based on an order of 10) the Free Aero Race Bibshorts aren’t cheap, but even at that hefty price they are hard to fault. The chamois gives you no reason to complain whether sat up on the back of the saddle or riding on the rivet in a more forward, aggressive position. The side panels are dimpled for improved aerodynamics; and the netted gripper does a great job ...

Gore Tex, Idro, jacket, lightweight, News, packable, permanent beading surface, rain protection -

Castelli and W.L. Gore and Associates announce a new product technology that brings unprecedented levels of durable rain protection in the lightest and most compact Gore-Tex® jacket ever — it all folds down to fill just half a pocket. The Gore-Tex® Active technology with a new permanent beading surface is an innovative fabric construction that eliminates the textile on the outer face of the fabric, resulting in a 2 layer fabric that is lighter weight and doesn’t absorb moisture on the outer face. Water rolls off, you stay drier, and it all packs away in sizes that were impossible until now. Castelli’s take on this new technology is of course made for the cyclist seeking maximum performance. Now you don’t have to choose between a small jacket or a protective one to carry with you. The anatomic fit which is optimized for a performance riding position will prevent the jacket from billowing and slowing you down. “We’ve designed this jacket with an emphasis on light weight and minimum bulk, so it has a minimalist construction as well.” Functional details like the easy-sliding waterproof YKK® Vislon® zipper, elastic bindings on the cuffs and hem keep the jacket in place, and a ...

business, cremonese, family, fonzaso, history, Photo finish -

Castelli was born in 1876, if we count the time when it was called Vittore Gianni, as the business was known when it was taken over from the eponymous Milanese owner by Maurizio’s father. But since 2003 the brand has belonged to a company in the province of Belluno, Manifattura Valcismon. The Belluno-based company is certainly not a newcomer to the technical sportswear sector. Quite the contrary — the Cremonese family, now in its third generation, has worked in the textile industry since 1946. Founded in Lamon, by Olindo and Irma Cremonese, the company moved in 1954 to Fonzaso, where the headquarters are still located today. The turning point came with the couple’s son, Giordano, who loved sports, especially cross-country skiing, and initiated a true business transformation during the ’70s and ’80s that led the company to become a manufacturer of technical sportswear. Now, heading up the company together with Giordano are his four children: Dario, Alberto, Gioia and Alessio. A love of sports and a passion for cycling are the keys to business success that have brought Manifattura Valcismon today to guide the Castelli brand.   DR. GIORDANO Manifattura Valcismon, founded by Olindo and Irma Cremonese, began as a producer ...

austria, ironman, klagenfurt, Marino Vanhoenacker, mirinda carfrae, Pewag Racing Team, rinny, Triathlon, Wörthersee -

This year’s IRONMAN Austria in Klagenfurt was a total triumph for Castelli athletes, who took both the women’s and men’s titles at Lake Wörthersee. Mirinda Carfrae (AUS) looked strong right from the start and took charge halfway through the bike leg. On the bike the triple IRONMAN world champion gained an advantage from the aerodynamically optimized T1:Stealth W Top and clocked an incredible 4:47:39 bike split. With a concluding marathon of 2:49:06 (new PB), she set a new women’s race record to finish in 8:41:17. While Carfrae was racing in Austria for the first time, Marino Vanhoenacker was on the starting line for the 8th time. In the days prior to the race the Belgian had left no doubt that he would be the man to beat. However, his rivals put in everything they had and showed that they would not go down without a fight. It was not until KM 150 on the bike that he was able to distance his competitors, but he entered T2 with a race-best 4:19:57 bike split and a lead of 4:11. With a 2:47:13 run, Vanhoenacker was able to continue his impressive winning streak at IRONMAN Austria, taking his 8th Klagenfurt title in 8:04:18 The Belgian pewag racing team athlete debuted a ...
