The 2018 Abu Dhabi Tour is now here, with the official start on Wednesday, February 21. The 5-stage race in the Emirates will be more interesting than ever, as its route is supposed to shuffle the cards thanks to a new ITT, together with 3 sprint stages and a hilly day. As announced, we’re supplying the official jerseys of the leaders of the race. They were specifically studied for the Abu Dhabi race, and they are anatomically shaped for a perfect aerodynamic balance and performance. The 11.8 time trial kilometers are put on the fourth stage, just before the final stage to the mountain finish of Jebel Hafeet. Before that, 3 sprinter stages are going to lead the group around the Emirates. Here you can see the peloton training inside the Yas Marina F1 Circuit in Abu Dhabi, the same the F1 cars have been using since 2009. No, you won’t see any car racing from this Wednesday, but we love to think that in the desert of the Emirates, the Abu Dhabi Tour can be even more fascinating. Don’t forget there will be a mountain stage too – only Esteban Chaves, Tanel Kangert and former world champion Rui Costa managed to win the Tour ...

Abu Dhabi, 21 September 2016 – This year’s edition of the Abu Dhabi Tour, the four-stage professional cycling race organized by Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) in collaboration with RCS Sport, will cover 555km over its four-day run from 20 to 23 October. The race which brings the international season to a close just a few days after the 16 October World Championships and 18 October UCI Cycling Gala, will start with two flat stages dedicated to sprinters, followed by a mountain stage, where climbers and puncheurs will fight for general classification. The grand finale is once again confirmed for the iconic Formula 1 Yas Marina Circuit. His Excellency Aref Al Awani, ADSC’s General Secretary, said: “The success of the Abu Dhabi Tour has been recognized by the fact that this annual sporting event will join the UCI World Tour calendar in February 2017. In addition to the race and the UCI Cycling Gala, we are cultivating several side projects for the development of cycling in schools and among the young. The short-term goal is still to become a world class event but the longer-term focus is to spread the cycling culture, to inspire people into healthy and active lifestyles.“ Abu Dhabi ...

This week’s Abu Dhabi Tour (October 811) is drawing big names, including the newly-crowned World Champion Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo), Grand Tour champions such as Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru, three times UCI Time Trial World Champion Tony Martin, some tasty sprinters such as Theo Bos,Matthew Goss, Mark Cavendish and Tom Boonen, Marcel Kittel, Michael Matthews  and Elia Viviani . Is the route all flat deserts? No it is not. Although four days doesn’t give the opportunity for a wide scope of stage profiles, there’s a testing climb to the finish on day three of the race (see below for maps/profiles). Stages one, two and four are very flat, though, giving the sprinters a chance to shine. Stage three will likely be the decider though, and we can look forward to the mountain men having one last uphill ding-dong before they put their bikes away for a month or two. Who is going to win? As we’ve mentioned, there are going to be a lot of weary legs in attendance. Vincenzo Nibali was in great shape to win Il Lombardia last weekend, and you can never discount WorldTour winner Alejandro Valverde, who can contest flat stages as well as climb. Team Sky’s Dutch climber ...
