Castelli custom clothing – tested by Cyclingweekly

Castelli started manufacturing clothing in 1876, in the 1940s it created custom jerseys for Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi, and it claims to have been the first to use the current sublimation printing process back in 1983. If you choose Castelli’s Pro Issue range you’ll get the same kit as supplied to the WorldTour Cannondale-Drapac Pro Cycling Team. However, if you are looking for a more forgiving fit there’s the Team issue range that is aimed at club riders. The on test Pro Issue custom kit looks top drawer and feels high quality to the touch. Costing £74.99 (plus VAT and based on an order of 10) the Free Aero Race Bibshorts aren’t cheap, but even at that hefty price they are hard to fault. The chamois gives you no reason to complain whether sat up on the back of the saddle or riding on the rivet in a more forward, aggressive position. Tulsa Pt. 2: Tough

Cry Baby Hill: the culmination of three days of criterium racing at Tulsa Tough. Hot streets and surging crowds. A hill climb that grits the teeth of every rider that passes through. Despite the party-like carnival of costumed revelers, a rider may see nothing but a blur of spectators at the fringes. Eyes focused on the hilltop. The 10% grade ends with a fast descent and a hard right, followed by a straightaway. Then the climb begins again. On repeat, for over an hour. Or less, if you’re lucky. Tough love, as they say. It is the race that you can’t help thinking of at the beginning of the weekend of racing. But first, the Blue Dome and Brady Arts Criteriums. Great crowds for Tulsa nights and the constant threat of summer storms. Fireworks for sure. Congratulations to all of the Castelli riders who put scorpions on the top steps of the podium each day. Tulsa Pt. 1

Tulsa, Oklahoma was a bit of a mystery to us as we first arrived. We knew that there were three nights of great racing ahead at Tulsa Tough that we were excited to see—including the infamous Cry Baby Hill—but we figured it would be best to ease into the weekend first. Meeting up with some of our local teams for a ride got things started in excellent fashion. After a café gathering and breakfast tacos the group of riders was properly fueled to roll out. We began by heading north through sleepy Friday morning neighborhoods to the edge of the city. Riders jostled each other for position at the head of the group for a bit of camera attention. Soon those neighborhoods blended into various highway stretches and concrete interims before hitting green fields against sloping hillsides. A heaviness to the morning air. Sky turning to a deep gray perimeter. Summer storms were predicted for the weekend, but thankfully they skirted the area in the morning. Gorge Roubaix 2014 Race Report

The Gorge Roubaix race near The Dalles, Oregon doubled up this year to become a two-day event for its second edition and, although the event is still young, it’s quickly becoming a classic and a racer’s favorite. Flat tires and mechanicals decimated the Hosmer Chiro-RPM Mortgage team in 2013, but year two ended up a whole lot better, with Stephen Bedford winning both days and the overall competition.
