After Patrick broke the 8h barrier for the very fist time last year, it was hard to believe that his record will be beaten only 12 months later. Jan did it! Tim O’Donnell convinced – and surprised lots of experts – with one of the most consistent performances that day and was crowned second, just below 8hrs! 12 months after its debut, the PR Speed Suit hit the triathlon world like a bomb and proved to be an essential detail for top performance once again. Laura Philipp and Cameron Wurf – both dressed in their PR Speed Suit – claimed the fastest female and male bike splits of this year’s world championship race. Good news: The exact same suit is available for everyone now. Check out the women’s and men’s details! Besides leading the field on the bike, both champions showed a great race with 4th and 5th place and lots of potential for the coming years. Enjoy some impressions of this year’s world championship below. Top 10 men: 1. Jan Frodeno (DEU): ): 7:51:13 (47:31; 4:16:03; 2:42:43) 2. Tim O’Donnell (USA): 7:59:40 (47:38; 4:18:12; 2:49:44) 3. This year’s World Championship was packed with action and new records. Lots of athletes took advantage of the ideal conditions with mirror flat water and almost no wind on race day. Australian Cameron Wurf put everything on one card early in the race and set a new bike record. Like last year, Patrick Lange brought his strength into play on the concluding marathon and took the title and a course record in winning the World Championship in a thrilling race. The German won in 8:01:40 and broke the previous record of Craig Alexander (8:03:56) from 2011. Enjoy a small selection of images by Ingo Kutsche & David Pintens

One of Kona’s unwritten rules is: „Never bet against the champions of last year!“ In the end the race starts with a gunshot and equal opportunity for all athletes this Saturday. Last year’s race proved that being an outsider need not be a disadvantage when Andreas Raelert, whom only a few had on the radar on that day, stormed to 2nd place. Timothy O’Donnell, who especially set accents on the bike, finished 3rd. Not winning the race last year doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be promising perspectives to make a mark on race day. Castelli has left nothing to chance in providing our athletes the most functional and aerodynamic apparel for Hawaii’s extreme conditions. Depending on your personal preference, they will race in customized Sanremo Suits, T1:Stealth Tops or Free two-piece kits. Make sure to follow our Facebook triathlon page and instagram account during race week for latest Kona news and a chance to win exclusive prizes.
