– FIND THE INSPIRATIONAL VIDEO’S BELOW – The 2018 edition of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel will kick off on July 1 in the Badia valley of Italy’s far north. More than 9,000 riders will climb out of the darkness, just before dawn breaks over the surrounding limestone peaks of the Dolomites. The race is a must for every serious cyclist. The landscape of the Dolomites is so important and so inspiring that it’s protected by UNESCO, and every year the Maratona has an environment-related theme. The race’s patron, Michil Costa, is what the Italians call a “personaggio,” a character. His goal is to get people to connect with nature, to contemplate their place in it, and to appreciate not only its fragile beauty but also what that beauty can do for our own fragilities. Riding here might be tough on the legs, but it does wonders for a stressed-out mind. The Castelli “Guess the Maratona Dles Dolomites location” contest is underway. Less than 12 days to the start of the 30th Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel. As you begin to taper your training, we decided to give away 8 Maratona jerseys from last year to some lucky fans.  If you know the name of the famous mountain pass, part of the Maratona  course, on the above photo, send us your answer, your jersey size and shipping details by email to contest@castelli-cycling.com. Don’t forget to include ‘Guess The Location‘ in your email subject line. 33.100 cyclists have signed up for the Maratona Dles Dolomites

The numbers are in – 33.100 cyclists have signed up for a place in the ballot, with results announced early December 2015. The 30th edition of the Maratona dles Dolomites will be held on Sunday, 3 July, 2016. How to dress properly for the Maratona dles Dolomites

If you do the long course, you might be in the saddle for up to 10 hours, so it’s very important that you wear the correct clothes for all day comfort and performance. In the summer months, it’s all about regulating your temperature, to save you from overheating, especially on the climbs. The Maratona jersey is made out of a 3D fabric on front and shoulders to keep the jersey light and dry. The 3D nature of the fabric means that most of it never touches your skin, so it never clings or absorbs water. This challenge to wear the right gear is coupled with the need to prepare for those cool descents where air flow can cause your body temperature to drop.
