Between Tour of Flanders and Scheldeprijs, teams have been busy with reconnaissance and fine-tuning of their equipment for Sunday. Flanders and Roubaix in Images

Cobbles under gray skies and lightly rimmed with mud. Cobbles in sunlight. No matter what weather presented itself for the great cobbled Classics, the races were as punishing for riders as they were equally thrilling for fans. The looming bergs of Flanders and the dusty, broken farm roads leading to Roubaix were incredibly selective and the strong only stood taller after navigating their way safely through. Shaken, bruised, even bleeding, they pushed on. Here is a look back on an incredible week at some of the most beautiful races in the world.

Ronde Recon – A day with Cannondale-Garmin

The work never ends. Cannondale-Garmin DS Andreas Klier said that there was a lot of work for the staff today. Long-time mechanic, Geoff Brown, looked up from swapping out cassettes and laughed, “When do we not have a lot of work?” Klier laughed. Good point.   11×28 The cassette that all of the riders will be on come Sunday. N8. Between Oudenaarde and the Oude Kwaremont, the team bus pulled over, and the riders tentatively made their way out clad in every kind of protective garb you can imagine. It was cold and wet and windy. A few snowflakes even fell at the beginning at the beginning of the day. First on the menu: oude kwaremont. The plan for the day: ride the final 155 kilometers of Sunday’s Ronde van Vlaanderen. No shortcuts, no skips, no zigs when the course zags – just the route. Simple. It’s a Klier thing – keep it simple. And thorough. Eikenberg. It won’t look like this on Sunday. The Eikenberg is a complete mess on race day. Andreas Klier. Andreas is one of our favorites. Ronde Van Vlaanderen Recon

On Sunday, the 98th edition of the Ronde Van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) will take place in western Belgium. Team Garmin-Sharp spent this week preparing for the race, including 160km recon ride of the race course for Sunday. Coming from Ninove in Flanders, we had a seat in the team car with sport director Andreas Klier and Geert Van Bondt while Jered Gruber took take of the stunning images following the riders on scooter.Tour of Flanders fact #1: 2014 marks the 98th edition of the race.Tour of Flanders fact #2: the race has been won by a Belgian 68 times.
