Original article by Nicola Busca | cyclingweekly.co.uk Team Sky rider and Castelli have developed specific skinsuits for each of the Omnium disciplines. Italian manufacturer Castelli has developed together with Team Sky rider Elia Viviani a customised skinsuit the Italian cyclist will wear at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as he attempts to win Omnium gold. Viviani has worked in the wind tunnel of the Polytechnic University of Milan and tried 15 different suits and fabrics to find the best fit for the Olympics. “We tested 15 different textiles and cuts to find the one that suits him the best.” (Steve Smith, Castelli brand manager) “The models developed for Viviani has been developed from what we have been studied and developed in a long time”, says Steve Smith, Castelli brand manager. “We tested 15 different textiles and cuts to find the one that suits him the best, both for the individual and group races as the fabrics don’t perform in the same way with different speeds.” Viviani will compete in the Omnium, which features six different track racing disciplines, meaning that Castelli has developed multiple skinsuits, with each designed for a specific event. Great ride by Dylan Van Baarle who rode to sixth place at Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday. Following a classics season marred by illness and injury, this result was a much needed boost for ‎Green Argyle. “This sixth place meant a lot for me but also for the team. Last weekend was not how we wanted. Everyone was not fit and so many were sick. After the weekend, we were pretty depressed. But with this result, we can be very happy. It’s not my result alone. Without all the hard work of everyone, I couldn’t reach it.” – Dylan van Baarle following his gutsy ride for sixth place at Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday We hope to see Dylan representing the Argyle Nation at Paris Roubaix this upcoming weekend. 2016, castelli, dubai tour, News, racing, worldtour -

For this year’s Dubai Tour Mark Cavendish (the 2015 winner) will be in an illustrious circle of champions that includes Sir Bradley Wiggins, Philippe Gilbert, Rui Costa, Fabian Cancellara, Tony Martin and a band of sprinters including Elia Viviani and Andrea Guardini and Marcel Kittel. DUBAI TOUR 2016 STAGES The Dubai Tour is made up from three stages suited to the sprinters and one – stage three, The Westin Stage – to the puncheurs. The only fact that might split the race during the opening two stages are crosswinds that could come into play on the more open roads across the desert. Stage three repeats the uphill finish to Hatta Dam that was won by John Degenkolb last year. The German will miss the race but the short and steep climb (200 m) is ideally suited for riders like Juan Jose Lobato (Movistar) or Philippe Gilbert (BMC). The final stage without any climbing will probably be decided in a bunch sprint and should fix – together with bonus points – the order of the final classification. Stage one, February 3, Dubai International Marine Club to Fujairah, 179km Stage two, February 4, Dubai International Marine Club to Palm Jumeirah, 188km Stage three, February 5, ...
