This week’s Abu Dhabi Tour (October 811) is drawing big names, including the newly-crowned World Champion Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo), Grand Tour champions such as Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru, three times UCI Time Trial World Champion Tony Martin, some tasty sprinters such as Theo Bos,Matthew Goss, Mark Cavendish and Tom Boonen, Marcel Kittel, Michael Matthews  and Elia Viviani . Is the route all flat deserts? No it is not. Although four days doesn’t give the opportunity for a wide scope of stage profiles, there’s a testing climb to the finish on day three of the race (see below for maps/profiles). Stages one, two and four are very flat, though, giving the sprinters a chance to shine. Stage three will likely be the decider though, and we can look forward to the mountain men having one last uphill ding-dong before they put their bikes away for a month or two. Who is going to win? As we’ve mentioned, there are going to be a lot of weary legs in attendance. Vincenzo Nibali was in great shape to win Il Lombardia last weekend, and you can never discount WorldTour winner Alejandro Valverde, who can contest flat stages as well as climb. Team Sky’s Dutch climber ...

The 6th stage of the Tour de France would be a historical day for African cycling as Daniel Teklehaimanot became the first African rider to pull on the Polka Dot best climbers jersey and only the 3rd African ever, to wear a leader’s jersey at the Tour de France. Daniel set off in pursuit of history when he got into the 3 rider break of the day that got clear after just 5km of racing. There would be 3 category 4 climbs on route today, with 1 point available to the first rider over the top of each climb. Perrig Quemeneur (Europcar) and Kenneth Vanbilsen (Cofidis) were the 2 riders to join Daniel in the break and it would turn out to be Quemeneur that would challenge Daniel for the mountain points throughout the stage. In each of the mountain sprints Daniel would show great awareness and strength to be able to get the better of the Frenchman, ensuring he would be the first African rider ever to pull on the King of the Mountains Polka Dot jersey at the Tour de France. After Daryl Impey’s time in the yellow jersey in 2013 and Robbie Hunter wearing the white jersey in ...

Cry Baby Hill, custom team clothing, Photo, Racing, servizio corse, Tulsa Tough -

Cry Baby Hill: the culmination of three days of criterium racing at Tulsa Tough. Hot streets and surging crowds. A hill climb that grits the teeth of every rider that passes through. Despite the party-like carnival of costumed revelers, a rider may see nothing but a blur of spectators at the fringes. Eyes focused on the hilltop. The 10% grade ends with a fast descent and a hard right, followed by a straightaway. Then the climb begins again. On repeat, for over an hour. Or less, if you’re lucky. Tough love, as they say. It is the race that you can’t help thinking of at the beginning of the weekend of racing. But first, the Blue Dome and Brady Arts Criteriums. Great crowds for Tulsa nights and the constant threat of summer storms. Fireworks for sure. Congratulations to all of the Castelli riders who put scorpions on the top steps of the podium each day. Blue Dome Criterium – Friday Brady Arts District Criterium – Saturday River Parks Criterium (featuring Cry Baby Hill) – Sunday
