Reflecting on a great six year partnership with Slipstream Sports

Castelli has had a great six year partnership with Slipstream Sports first as Garmin-Cervélo through various sponsor changes up to our current Cannondale-Drapac. Special jersey to beat the extreme heat in Doha

The heat blanketing the Middle East is affecting the 2016 UCI Road World Championships in Doha. Riders have complained of extreme conditions and have exhibited signs of heat exhaustion, with several individuals requiring medical assistance. To give the Italian National Road Cycling Team an innovative edge, the Castelli Speed Research Unit and Politecnico di Milano have developed a jersey with titanium dioxide sun protection and cooling panels to help the riders beat the heat. Beating the heat, or rather minimizing its negative effects on performance. It’s not just the temperature that matters, but also the humidity and airflow. And what does it mean to race in these conditions? When the body temperature rises above 39 degrees (to the heat generated by muscular effort is added that from the sun’s radiation), oxygen transfer from hemoglobin to body tissues is impaired, with a corresponding decline in performance. A 2 percent reduction in weight due to dehydration reduces performance by 8 to 10 percent. Heat dissipation takes place largely through the evaporation of sweat. The designs take their greatest inspiration from tailoring. Described by Millar as “the cutting edge of fashion,” the Chpt./// team even consulted with renowned tailor Timothy Everest to perfect the lines and cut on both the light jersey and the Rocka. Abu Dhabi Tour 2016: Route and jerseys unveiled

Abu Dhabi, 21 September 2016 – This year’s edition of the Abu Dhabi Tour, the four-stage professional cycling race organized by Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) in collaboration with RCS Sport, will cover 555km over its four-day run from 20 to 23 October. The race which brings the international season to a close just a few days after the 16 October World Championships and 18 October UCI Cycling Gala, will start with two flat stages dedicated to sprinters, followed by a mountain stage, where climbers and puncheurs will fight for general classification. The grand finale is once again confirmed for the iconic Formula 1 Yas Marina Circuit. His Excellency Aref Al Awani, ADSC’s General Secretary, said: “The success of the Abu Dhabi Tour has been recognized by the fact that this annual sporting event will join the UCI World Tour calendar in February 2017. In addition to the race and the UCI Cycling Gala, we are cultivating several side projects for the development of cycling in schools and among the young.
