The Castelli 24-hour race ticks all the boxes for a great cycling party central, its fun, sociable, enjoyable, sociable, fast and exhilarating as 80 teams of 12 riders tackle the 24 hour race. Each of them had their own tactic for the race, splitting the team in to groups of three who rotated in a two – three hour shifts, typically riding between 15-25 minutes throughout with crowds screaming all the way around the circuit. Amongst those riding for the victory, measured in total number of laps, were some of Italy’s top amateur teams, a few professionals and ex- world champions, you know it’s no walk in the park. Enjoy the stunning images by Enrico Ubezio from a great event in the heart of Feltre.

First of all I would like to thank CDC-Sport for inviting me to this trip and enabling me to participate in that spectacular event. The “24 ore Felte” or “Castelli 24H race” is some kind of criterium and is raced by almost 100 teams (each consisting of 12 riders) around the old town of Feltre (Italy) at the bottom of the Dolomites and only a stone’s throw away from Castelli’s headquarters. My adventure started on Thursday June 5, one day before race day. Our tour group (among others ex-professional Cata Martinez on behalf of “Ciclos Cabello” (Córdoba), Esteban from CDC-Sport in Andalusia, Juan and Miguel of “TriaWorld) departed from Malaga airport. We handed off our bikes and took our flight to Milan (2h45min). At Milan, we loaded our rental car and waded into our three hour drive to hotel “Casagrande” in Feltre. We quickly unpacked our bikes before we left for dinner and stretched our legs by walking through the old town of Feltre – a pleasant way to finish our day of traveling. Friday – race day: After breakfast we decided to make use of the spectacular cycling opportunities in the Feltre area and went for a two hour spin. Via road SP-473 ...

The racing season is well and truly underway. For many the sun has arrived, the weather’s improving (even here in north of England where I’m sat writing this). We’ve had the classics, the Tour of California, and now the Giro d’Italia is in full swing. I like a huge amount of cyclists out there, will be balancing work, getting out on the bike and catching the racing on TV. You may be running a sly second tab on your work computer streaming the latest stage of the Giro or Tour of Norway, in awe of the pros ripping each other apart in some of the best cycling locations across the globe. This viewing gets me excited, keen to hit the road and to get more miles in my legs and to top up that cyclist tan. The aim may be to replicate the actions of the professional, or at least try to. For me its nice to be finally able to pack away the winter kit (hopefully for the rest of the year) and dig out last years summer kit. The winter kits seen loads of action, in some grim weather. Now its time for my Castelli Bodypaint shorts to yet again get used, ...

I’m at the Castelli 24 hour criterium in Feltre, northern Italy, and can’t remember the last time I had this much fun on two wheels. Between 10pm and 1:00am on Friday, I was racing around a 1.8km circuit in front of huge crowds against the likes of Manuel Boaro, Paolo Bettini, Filippo Pozzato, and various amateur riders, Italian industry insiders and local weekend warriors. The Castelli 24-hour race ticks all the boxes for a great cycling party central, its fun, sociable, enjoyable, sociable, fast and exhilarating as 80 teams of 12 riders tackle the 24 hour race. With no really sections to rest on the 1.8km circuit, riders were forced to 24 hours of criterium style racing – something that normally goes on for no longer ...
