european championships, Glasgow, italy, Matteo Trentin, News, Team Italia -

Matteo Trentin finished off a well-planned team performance by the Italian squad on a rainy and cool day in Glasgow yesterday. “We rode perfectly as a team and I have to thank everyone who has supported me during my problems and injuries.” Matteo and most of his teammates were dressed in the Sanremo Speed Suit, an aerodynamic skinsuit for road racing. During the beginning of the 230k long race over 16 laps the Italians were covered in Gabba Jerseys, the ideal protection layer for a cool and wet Scottish day. The time has finally arrived. After three days of jersey design inspiration leaks, Castelli and Maratona dles Dolomite have released the two new designs for male and female cyclists challenging the 32nd edition of the Maratona dles Dolomites on July 1, 2018. The two designs unveiled tonight have been inspired by the landscape and nature of the Badia valley. To gather inspiration for the creative process, we asked six local athletes and mountain-loving friends to bring their favorite colors or objects found in nature in the Badia valley to the design table.   Fans and cyclists not participating at the Maratona will have the first opportunity to buy one of the brand-new kits on Castelli-cycling.com starting on Monday, July 2nd. Thanks to Ashley and Jered Gruber  for participating in this video, climbing the extraordinary, excruciating 138-kilometer long route with just short of 4,200 meters (13,780 feet) of climbing. What do you think about the new colors? chat about the two new kits in the comments below.       “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” – Albert Einstein.   Make sure you learn the Italian and Ladin pronunciation of “balance” in your preparation for the Maratona race ...

TAKING ON THE FEARED ZONCOLAN WITH RYDER HESJEDAL   Join me as I climb one of the toughest ascents in pro cycling with 2012 Giro d’Italia winner Ryder Hesjedal. I had planned to tackle this epic climb one day myself, but after running into Ryder at the Castelli HQ, after he got back from the Giro d’Italia start in Israel, we decided to ride this monster climb together – it would be the second time for Ryder and the first time for me.   Epic is the only word to describe the ride up Monte Zoncolan. “The climb is so hard that every rider is locked in a personal fight against gravity rather than their rivals,” says Ryder. It takes such an effort to accelerate that the wise idea is to measure your effort rather than make a show on the steep pitches. It’s a relentless ramp where even the best climbers ascend at 7 or 8 kilometers an hour. It’s for sure the toughest climb I’ve ever ridden, and it has raised my admiration for the pros who race up the Zoncolan, Mortirolo and Colle delle Finestre.  When climbing into the village of Liariis, where the road flattens out, ...
