This weekend Paris-Roubaix, the Queen of the Monuments of the european calendar, will see the start. Rode for first time in 1896, is the dream either the nightmare for every cyclist. Pavé roads for many kilometers will test nerves and bikes, and companies producing bikes or tyres are always searching for the weapon X to avoid mechanichal problems or punctures. Falling down is part of race, and who finishes the entire race, whitour reching the podium, could say it’s a quite good result. Since 1977 a part of the prize is a cobble stone, like those the winner has dominated during the race. Cannondale-Garmin is on the track right now testing the roads, the feeling with this hell road, expecially in the Arenberg Forest and Carrefour de l’Arbre area. Retired only in the sporting sense, David Millar has hardly had time to put his feet up after a 17-year professional cycling career.  Following his retirement at the end of last season, David Millar has teamed up with the Italian car brand, Maserati, as the official cycling ambassador and event sponsor for this year’s Tour de Yorkshire. “Just like the sport of cycling, motor sport is steeped in history.” “Just like the sport of cycling, motor sport is steeped in history, and the Maserati brand has played a key role in this rich heritage, through 100 years of engineering innovation,” says David Millar. “I am excited that two of my greatest passions in life are being combined and delighted to be involved from the start of what looks set to be a fantastic initiative. The first of these experiences will be the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire Ride on Sunday 3rd May. alpha, bikeradar, castelli, cycling, jacket, News, Product talk, weekly -

The Alpha brings innovation to winter jackets, and plenty of style. Stretchy Windstopper 150 fabric creates the windproof, water resistant shell but, rather than a conventional softshell material, Castelli has detached the insulation, and only added it where necessary. The back has a mesh panel and ventilation flap and most of the sleeves have a warm waffle pattern fabric, as does the zip-up waistcoat that insulates the chest. It’s fixed at both sides, but if you overheat, the Alpha allows you to open the main zip to expel moisture without chilling your core. All the insulation moves independently of the shell, giving great freedom, and Castelli’s raw edge cuffs and waistband seal perfectly, lying totally flat for excellent glove-like fit and no draughts. Even the articulated collar is super snug. Practicalities are taken care of by three drop pockets and two zipped, one rear and one on the waist.
