Both Raelert Brothers had a successful weekend by winning two half distances races in Linz (Michael) and Vierlanden (Andreas). The start was made by Michael on Saturday, who took the victory at the 11th Linz Triathlon thanks to an impressive performance. The 34-year-old won the competition over the half Ironman distance of 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21.1 km run in 3:58:10 hours. Michael Raelert clocked a new course record ahead of the two Austrians Paul Ruttmann (4:07:17) and Jan-Hinrich Klindworth (4:25:58). Michael after the race: “It was hot, it was nice, it was fast. Above all, it was a lot of fun. After the bitter disappointment of Mallorca, this race was very important to me. At the Ironman 70.3 Mallorca he was not allowed to fight for the podium due to a difficult technical issue during the bike ride. “Thinking about Zell am See, I hope I can profit from this race here in Linz for my further preparation. Today it has already been fun to race in front of a great Austrian audience.” On August 30th, Michael Raelert wants to win his third World Championship title at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Zell am See. “The ...

Expectations for the biggest Ironman 70.3 race of the year were high for our participating professionals, but things turned out differently than planned. Michael Raelert had a good swim and after a fast transition, he got in the lead. At the 4k mark he unfortunately hit a shard of glass and ruined his tire. “The tire was slashed. I was extremely frustrated and discussed with myself if I should bring this race to the finish line at all. I was totally down, but I decided to finish.” said Michael Raelert after the race. Michael decided to finish the race, managed the bike course in 2:58:47 hours and ran the half marathon in 1:22:41 hours. Despite all the disappointment the Rostockian enjoyed the support of a great audience in Alcudia. The crowd was a huge help for Michael Raelert to finish this especially mentally tough race. The race went even worse for German Matthias Knossalla. After a solid start of the race, he had an incident with a goat at the downhill from the monastery of Lluc. He was suffering from bruises and lost some skin, finished the bike leg but wasn’t able to start the concluding half marathon. The third member was Austrian Daniel Niederreiter from Pewag racingteam. ...

The climatic conditions and the outstanding pro field will be real challenges.” says Andreas Raelert Ironman 70.3 St. George has not only been a very fast race in the past, as a North American Pro Championship event it stands for an extremely strong list of athletes. “The line-up is sensational,” says Andreas Raelert.
