Many triathletes – Age Grouper or Pros – trust in a coach when it comes to their training or helping them to get a better athlete. They need advice in terms of training, nutrition, bike fitting, mental fitness, how to stay injury free or how to improve their swim technique just to name a few things that athletes worry about. Can one person be a specialist in all these areas? Of course a good coach should be an expert when it comes to daily training, race tactics or how to stay injury free. But does he need to be a mental coach or an aerodynamic expert? I would say no. But how can an athlete receive a professional environment where he only needs to concentrate on his training and is supported in all other aspects of triathlon? To cure this problem Susanne and I founded Trivolution-Training.de, a coaching network based in Wiesbaden, Germany. An association of experts with different strengths with one primary goal: help to become a better, healthier and happier triathlete. Even if I’m racing at pro level on the long distance, I’m also a coach since 2011 after graduated in sport science. Over the years I had ...

Wow, some crazy weeks are left behind me. There have been major Up’s and Down’s this season but let me start at the beginning of my summer season with Ironman 70.3 Mallorca. This should have been my first big race of the season. I was in peak shape on the bike and the run, smashing my 10k personal best two weeks before. I was more than happy to get my customized Castelli Free Tri Suit just in time for the race. Come one, this one looks so great with my Felt IA ;-) For my relations I had a good swim with a new PB for the 1,9k in the water. After exiting the water I jumped on my bike and made a strong push. At the monastery of Lluc I already passed 11 other professional athletes. While descending suddenly a goat jumped on the street. I managed to get around it but crashed…..that was it. Although I wasn’t injured seriously, I had to skip running for almost eight weeks and couldn’t ride my bike for five weeks. Even swimming wasn’t possible for two weeks due to all the scratches. I had to cancel my next two races, which should ...

Castelli was well represented at yesterday’s Ironman 70.3 European Championship in Wiesbaden (Germany). Andreas Raelert was the most successful athlete by winning the silver medal. He crossed the finish line in 4:05:03 hours just behind his compatriot Boris Stein who won the race in 4:03:08 hours. “I am very glad that I might have had success to get my qualification for the Ironman Hawaii on October 10th done with this race.” During the swim in the Lake Raunheimer Waldsee, Swiss Manuel Küng was the expected leader. He started the race at a high pace and opened up an early gap. At about half way of the 1.9 kilometer swim Manuel Küng’s attack divided the lead group into two parts. After a third of the tough 90 k ride Andreas Raelert took over the lead. “I wanted to bring myself into a good position at an early stage of this race,” he said after the race. Thanks to a great bike performance, Boris Stein soon took over the lead and opened up a significant gap. Andreas Raelert downsized the gap kilometer by kilometer. Through 15 k of the half marathon he was only around 2:30 minutes behind his leading compatriot and finally finished the race ...
