Ironman 70.3 Utah followed by the European season kick-off

While most of the Castelli sponsored triathletes already had started their season, the 2015 season really gets underway in the next two weeks.

This Saturday, the elite will meet at the Ironman 70.3 North American Championship in St. George, Utah. The Castelli scorpion will be represented by the fastest Ironman couple Mirinda Carfrae / Timothy O’Donnell and Andreas Realert. The latter will make his debut race of the 2015 season.

“I’m really looking forward to this race, but the tension is also very high. It is certainly a very tough race for a kick-off competition. The climatic conditions and the outstanding pro field will be real challenges.”

says Andreas Raelert

Ironman 70.3 St. George has not only been a very fast race in the past, as a North American Pro Championship event it stands for an extremely strong list of athletes. “The line-up is sensational,” says Andreas Raelert. The best-known names in the startlist will be Sebastian Kienle, Ben Hoffman, Brent McMahon, Tim Reed, Leon Griffin, Luke McKenzie, Paul Matthews, Tyler Butterfield and Tim Don.

For the Rostockian, this race means a very important test besides the qualifying points for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii which he wants to collect in Utah. Two weeks after the race at St. George, Andreas Raelert starts at the Ironman North American Championship in Texas. “The race in two weeks is very important for me, because in Texas I can make important points for Kona,” says the 38-year-old, “it would be great if I could manage to qualify for Kona at an early stage of the year.”

On Sunday German Evi Neuscheler and Austrian Thomas Steger (Pewag racingteam) hope for a good season opener at Ironman 70.3 Aix en Provence. Scotsman Fraser Cartmell will also participate in the French race.

And a week later (May 9), the European season really kicks off at Mallorca with an Ironman 70.3 race.

Castelli athletes Michael Raelert, Matthias Knossalla and Daniel Niederreiter (Pewag racing team) will do their best to show a great performance.
