Chris Froome coasted home to the finish line in central Rome on Sunday lined across the road with his teammates as they celebrated his and Team Sky’s first ever Giro d’Italia victory. The Briton became only the third man to hold all three Grand Tour titles at the same time and the seventh man in history to complete a full house of Grand Tour victories, a Giro win to sit alongside his 2017 Vuelta a España and Tour de France successes. We have gathered some of the best shots by CyclingImages and GettyImages to soak up the atmosphere. Enjoy !!

STAGE 19, PENULTIMATE DAY OF ACTION IN THE MOUNTAINS.   Tomorrow’s Queen Stage of this year’s Giro d’Italia will take in three challenging climbs, including the partially unpaved Colle delle Finestre (Cima Coppi), before a final haul up the insanely steep Monte Jafferau. A day for the happy few who can ride uphill, and a chance for a pure climber to take the stage. The 184-kilometer stage 19 takes in 3,500 vertical meters over four climbs. Two of the climbs, Colle del Lys and Colle Sestriere, are not to fear, but they are compensated by the ferociousness of both the Finestre and the Jafferau.   The first real demanding climb is the Colle delle Finestre, which comes after 92 kilometers of racing. The killer on the Finestre is its steadiness combined with its sheer length – an 18.5 kilometer climb with an average gradient of 9.4% and steepest sector of 14%, with asphalt giving way to a dirt road for the final 9 kilometers before the summit, and close to 60 hairpins along the way.     At an elevation of 2,178 meters above sea level, the Finestre is the Cima Coppi, the highest point of the Giro d’Italia. The white gravel roads of Tuscany and the grueling ups and downs of the route make it sapping next to the northern Classics despite its shorter distance. The one-day race is perhaps one of the most evocative races in world cycling and being relatively new to the calendar has quickly become a fans’ favorite. The 2018 edition had added drama with it. However, the course was turned into a mud bath by the rain, snow, and cold in the days up to the race. Two times winner of the race, Michal Kwiatkowski said that the race was “one of the toughest races I’ve ever done” after riding 184km of treacherous terrain with variable weather conditions throughout. And it was not to be Team Sky’s day as Tiesj Benoot (Lotto Soudal) was the first rider to enter Piazza del Campo crossing the line covered in dirt and wearing a haggard expression that epitomized why this race is so well loved. Enjoy the stunning pictures from a freezing cold and muddy Strade Bianche 2018 edition that will live long in the memory. Photos by Jered and Ashley Gruber

cyclocross, News, Photo, Racing, USA cyclocross national championships, Video -

The mainly dry and spread out cyclocross nationals course in Reno was not your typical grueling cross course like those that span muddy Belgian hillsides. It was next to a sprawling dog park and a playground. It was at altitude but otherwise seemed almost benign. The real test for Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com riders Stephen Hyde and Kaitie Keough came perhaps mostly from within. Having raced alongside 13-time national champion Katie Compton for years, Keough knew that she had to be mentally able to overcome the seemingly unbeatable Compton. Her strong efforts on the day placed her on the third step of the podium with a bronze medal, but she was clearly looking for much more. As defending national champion, Stephen Hyde carried the pressure to repeat, as do all former national champions. He came to the race off of strong finishes in Belgium in December, but then was hit with patellar tendinitis coming into the new year. His heavily taped knee peeking out of his leg warmers did not seem like a good sign. On top of that, Hyde crashed and bloodied the same knee during a practice lap on race day. Having to mentally deal with that gnawing at him at ...
