Complete line of Custom Aero Race products.
For competitive cyclists in the Pacific Northwest, a smart team will search for any way possible to fight the wind during training and racing.
The Audi Cycling Team is supplied with the complete line of Aero Race products offered by the Castelli custom division. Highly-specialized pieces such as the Aero Race Jersey, Bibshort, Glove, Vest, and Shoecover were selected by the riders for the clear advantages when racing in windy conditions. Lightweight and close-fitting, all of these products have benefited from rigorous testing in Europe by Cervélo TestTeam and Garmin-Cervélo Team in an attempt to maximize aerodynamics.
AERO RACE JERSEY
Wind tunnel testing shows that the Aero Race Jersey saves 10 watts when riding with your hands on the hoods at 40km/h. That equates to roughly 40 seconds saved every hour, if you’re a pro riding on the front like Thor Hushovd.
Scorpions on the podium at Starcrossed
Two-time US Cyclocross National Champion, Ryan Trebon, pulled on the Castelli Series Leader Jersey last weekend after a strong 2nd-place finish at Starcrossed in Seattle. The 4-race series, Cross After Dark, kicked off the cyclocross season a week ago in Las Vegas, which saw Trebon place 5th overall in a field of international talent.
An early-season race on a dry course presented unique challenges for riders accustomed to racing in rainy, muddy conditions. According to Trebon, the Starcrossed event “was very fast and super bumpy with a lot of direction changes.”
UK is calling – Cycle Show – this weekend!
Castelli got rave reviews at Eurobike and Interbike for its SANREMO SPEEDSUIT and TRIATHLON collection, both new for Spring 2012.
Five months after Johan Van Summeren (Garmin-Cervélo) soloed to a career-best win in Paris-Roubaix, the same type of SpeedSuit was worn by the Italian national road team competing in the road world championships in Copenhagen last week.
The SanRemo SpeedSuit, jersey-and-shorts combo, effectively enables riders to wear a skinsuit in road races and thus gain an aerodynamic advantage. Testing shows that at 40km/h, the jersey saves between twelve and fifteen watts of energy when compared to a standard clothing combination. It is, it says, worth 45 seconds in time savings.
Bronzini goes again!
Pulling on a World Road Championships Rainbow Jersey must be one of the greatest feelings ever! But to do it twice…well!
Dressed in Castelli colors, Italy’s Giorgia Bronzini claimed her second women’s elite World Championship road title in a row. The Italian beat Marianne Vos (Netherlands) and Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Germany) to the line.
“This second World Championship win is certainly the one that feels the best. Last year’s win was such a big surprise: I had started with no pressure and was working for the others early in the race. Bronzini said to Castelli.
Riding the WC course with the Italians
GETTING READY FOR TOMORROW: Castelli joined the Italian National men’s team this morning when testing the Worlds course for the last time. The Azzuri were all over the SanRemo Speed Suit. “Its the best cycling pieces I’ve ever worn”, said Oscar Gatto and Manuel Quinziato.
The Italian riders will not only be reaping the aero benefits of the SanRemo Speed Suit tomorrow, the Gabba jersey will be protecting them from the wind-chill, and still give them the aero advantage during the first part of the race.
Going up to the finish line at the top of Geels Hill.
