road.cc just unveiled the People’s Choice survey of favorite winter cycling jackets, and the results are in, the ‪#‎GABBA‬ 2 adds another first place to its Palmarés. 1st equal: Gabba 2 Castelli’s Gabba water-resistant jersey/jacket was such a hit among pro riders that those not sponsored by Castelli bought their own and blacked out the logos. Unsurprising, then, that it’s one of the two most popular winter jackets among UK riders too. The Gabba is made from Gore X-lite plus, a lightweight windproof fabric with water-repellent properties. It’s designed by and for pros, so the fit is tight and racy. It has a storm-flap at the rear to protect the rider from wheel spray. The biggest difference, and improvement, on teh Gabba 2 is the introduction of a wind flap for the full-length zip, keeping more wind and rain out than the previous version. Castelli’s Gabba waterproof jersey needs little introduction. Since it came out in 2010, it has taken the pro peloton, and non-fairweather cyclists by storm. And that’s fair enough really, who wouldn’t want to make their bad weather riding a bit more comfortable? A quick recap: The Gabba is made from Gore X-lite plus, a lightweight windproof fabric with water-repellent properties. It’s designed by and for pros, so the fit is tight and racy. It has a storm-flap at the rear to protect the rider from wheel spray. We’re on the new and improved version now, imaginatively called Gabba 2. The biggest difference, and improvement, is the introduction of a wind flap for the full-length zip, keeping more wind and rain out than the previous version. The eyelets in the rear pockets have been replaced with mesh fabric at the bottom of the pockets for better drainage. Other features have remained the same: the aero fit, reflective piping on the three pockets, full-length zip, high collar and gripper hem. I guess by now it’ll be clear that pros like this one for racing in foul conditions, but where does it fit in for those not racing? I like wearing it in ...

The Gabba jersey have grabbed the headlines and forged a well-earned reputation for its cold and wet weather properties in recent years, the lightweight version (25 percent lighter, and with more breathability for milder conditions) of the Gabba jersey was launched at Eurobike.  This article was originally published by RoadcyclingUK The Gabba might have grabbed the headlines over the past few years, but Castelli have an impressive range of other jackets to cater for every meteorological scenario. The Perfetto was one of two wet weather pieces launched at the Eurobike show along with the Tempesta waterproof rain jacket. First, the Perfetto, which is essentially a Gabba-lite. Whereas the full-blown Gabba, which combines a windproof, water resistant and breathable fabric with a race-ready, aero cut, is designed for cool to cold conditions, the Perfetto is designed for when it’s still damp, but the temperature is a little milder. The Castelli Perfetto is essentially a lightweight version of the Gabba With lower weight comes claims of improved breathability, while the jersey is also more compact and Castelli say it can be stowed in a pocket if, say, you were to wear it over a typical, lightweight short sleeve jersey. Pair the Perfetto with Castelli’s excellent water resistant Nanoflex arm warmers and you should have ...
