Professional cyclist. Professional cyclist post-doping ban. Fashion designer? David Millar explains Chpt. /// and the third part of his career in cycling. Photos: Castelli Words:  Rouleur.cc David Millar is a man of many parts these days. Just one of them is his role in Chpt.///, the cycle clothing brand whose designs he conceived with VC Rocacorba club-mate Richard Pearce and realised with the production might of his former sponsor Castelli. It’s easy to see why Millar is in demand. Intelligent, loquacious, and a survivor of 18 years at the top tier of professional cycling, with all the good and bad that might bring. He’d fit neatly in to boxes marked ‘elder statesman’ or ‘spokesman’, were it not for the fact that Millar defies compartmentalisation. Professional cyclists, retired or otherwise, are rarely straightforward characters. And this explains the name: Chapter III. Millar’s opening chapter charted his debut and progression in the professional ranks. Chapter two saw our protagonist return from a two year doping ban. Chapter three? That’s the here and now. The future. What comes next. “It was my rebellion.” We start with the Rocka jacket, a garment that Millar describes as “the statement piece for the whole collection”. It’s easy to see why. A ...

David Millar presents new styles in the Chpt./// clothing range.  Pronounced “chapter three”, Chpt./// x Castelli is a unique collaboration between British pro David Millar and Castelli, with whom he worked closely for much of his professional career. “Our origins lay in racing, and we’ll always love going fast, but from now on there will be no sacrificing style for speed. This is our second range of products, there are more currently in development, but we are proud to have this creative collaboration with Castelli to bring style and elegance to the world of performance cycling apparel,” said David Millar. The Chpt./// uses premium fabrics quality fabric materials, notably in the super light jersey and in the Rocka. Chpt.///’s version of the popular Gabba jersey. The designs take their greatest inspiration from tailoring. Described by Millar as “the cutting edge of fashion,” the Chpt./// team even consulted with renowned tailor Timothy Everest to perfect the lines and cut on both the light jersey and the Rocka. Contrast linings reference Millar’s sartorial interest, as does the color palette.

Within a stone’s throw of the beautiful Costa Brava and Pyrénées, the medieval town of Girona has been home to many of the world’s professional cyclists for close to two decades, offering the perfect environment for a cyclist looking to hone their form on quiet roads and with favourable year round temperatures. While Nice is famous for the Col de la Madone and Lucca the Monte Serra, Girona has its very own secret amongst friends, just 20 kilometres north of the old town. Named after the 12th century Santuari de Rocacorba that sits just shy of the summit this is a climb that, although not as well known as some of the more popular peaks, has a significance all of its own – especially for one rider in particular. A pro for 18 years David Millar’s turbulent career has been well documented, most notably in his books Racing Through the Dark and The Racer. Having moved to Girona a decade ago Millar is part of the history of Rocacorba, in fact the climb had such significance to the Scotsman that it’s woven deep into the tapestry of life well after racing and now as a social bike rider with the ...

Want to find out about the new amazing gear from Castelli? Here’s a rundown by Chris Selden of PEZcyclingnews.com with product news and scenes from the Eurobike show last week, the global cycling industry’s biggest trade show. Castelli have been the masters of wet weather gear for a number of years now with the renowned Gabba jersey and for 2016 they have added a new Gabba model for milder days, the Perfetto Light Short Sleeve. With better breathability, lighter and more easily packable into a jersey pocket when removed but still having great weather protection this is one jersey that is certainly going to be a big hit amongst pros and amateurs alike. Still on the bad weather theme Castelli have introduced a very classy new jacket, the Tempesta Race Jacket. Cut in a similar style to the Gabba this jacket sits very close to the skin and is much more aerodynamic than a standard rainjacket and has been successfully used by the guys at MTN-Qhubeka and Cannondale-Garmin this season. Combined with the Tempesta jacket are some overshorts which are a totally new concept in cycling. Similar to overpants used in motorcycle circles these are designed to go over the top of your bibshorts ...
