Ruben Ruzafa crowned 2013 XTERRA World Title
Castelli equipped Ruben Ruzafa reclaims the XTERRA world champions title on Sunday in Maui, Hawaii.
Ruben Ruzafa (Spain) took four years off the XTERRA circuit after winning the world title in 2008, then came back from a sojourn in World Cup mountain biking and ruled the XTERRA world again today, outpacing Asa Shaw (Uk) by 1:27 and 3rd-place Ben Allen (Australia) by 1:50.
“Everything turned out perfect, without problems and having goos feelings in all segments. During the swim I stayed in a group, losing the expected time. On the bike I had a great feelings, powerful and not taking risks. When I passed Allen and Chacón, the last long downhill was still remaining and I managed to reach the transition alone. The run has been really tough, I set short goals and tried to keep my stride. It was first when we hit the beach, I knew the victory was mine.”
