Achieving five wins and one 3rd place, past weekend can clearly be called a successful one for our triathletes. Castelli’s brand ambassadors were always in the middle of things and gained their well deserved prizes. Spaniard Marcel Zamora broke the first ground on Friday by winning extreme triathlon Embrunman where athletes faced around 4000m of elevation on the bike (including Col d’Izoard) followed by a hilly marathon. Even more impressive is the fact, that Zamora won Embrunman for the 5th time. Barely breathed deeply, Leanda Cave secured her Kona participation in an impressive way by winning Ironman Sweden in Kalmar only six days after her 2nd place at the Ironman 70.3 European Championship in Wiesbaden. On the same day, cross triathlon specialist Ruben Ruzafa once again showed his class and won ITU Cross World Championship in Zittau (Germany). His winning streak must slowly become frightening for his rivals. On Sunday our German athletes didn’t want to rank behind. Matthias Knossalla had a tough season so far struggling with injuries and illness, but celebrated a perfect comeback by winning mid distance triathlon Weilburgman in Germany. Andreas Raelert finished 3rd at the Ironman North American Championship in Mt. Tremblant. He collected valuable points for ...

The Castelli equipped and two-time XTERRA World Champion Ruben Ruzafa from Spain won his fifth XTERRA European Tour championship race on Saturday with another dominating performance, this time at the XTERRA Italy Championship in Scanno. Back in 2008 a then 29-year-old Ruzafa, hailing from Malaga, Spain, shocked the XTERRA planet when he won the World Championship in his first try. There’s no such surprise anymore.  Last year when he retired from world cup mountain biking (where he collected four national titles in cross country and marathon for Spain) to focus on XTERRA he won XTERRA Spain, was 2nd at France, won Germany, and was third at the USA Championship.  Since then he’s been perfect, winning Worlds in 2013, and Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, France, and Italy this year.  Six straight and 8-of-10 in the last 13 months. On Sunday, he took the victory in two hours and forty-five minutes, more than four minutes ahead of Braden Currie (who just won XTERRA Sweden) and five minutes ahead of four-time XTERRA World Champion and reigning/3x ITU Cross Triathlon World Champion Conrad “the Caveman” Stoltz. Top 5 result – Elite Men Pos. Name Time 1 Ruben Ruzafa, ESP 2:45:23 2 Braden Currie, NZL 2:49:57 3 Conrad Stoltz, ...

What does it take to win in Hawaii? Apparently Castelli’s Free tri line is de rigueur. Ironman champions Frederik Van Lierde and Mirinda Carfrae, along with XTERRA champ Ruben Ruzafa all earned their victories in Castelli’s Free race kits. Free is the result of years of Castelli aerodynamic research in cycling clothing resulting in flat seams and aerodynamic fabric surfaces that minimize time on the bike, along with run-enhancing comfort and temperature management. Rinny won in the Free W Tri Short that is the same that you can buy, though we had to make a custom fit for her small frame. Her Free W Tri Singlet is the same construction as our inline construction although she wanted it without the front zipper. Frederik used the Free one piece race suit. To give his sponsors maximum visibility he actually used the version with the back zipper that was designed for ITU racing. Ruben used the Free two piece suit that has carried him to multiple XTERRA victories all season. All three athletes enjoyed the innovative Kiss Tri seat pad. It’s one of the most padded seat pads in Tri for maximum comfort on the bike, but thanks to Castelli’s skiving technology ...
