Alessandro Fabian, Italian triathlete of the year

Alessandro Fabian
At the annual Italian Oscar Del Triathlon awards ceremony, Castelli equipped Alessandro Fabian was named the Triathlete of the Year. The policeman from Padua, back from a 2012 that saw him race with the world’s best at the Olympic Games in London, where he placed ninth, was named best triathlete of the season by a jury composed of journalists and industry experts.

“I am delighted and a little excited,” said Fabian. “It is hard, especially with the experience of the Olympics, to convey emotions about this.”

Voting to shortlist the award winners was organised via FCZ.it (Fantatriathlon Community Zone) a leading portal for the Italian triathlon community.

The Oscar Del Triathlon awards event was put together by FCZ’s Dario Nardone in partnership with the Laureus Foundation (which is committed to solving the challenges facing young people by supporting children and young people who come from difficult social backgrounds, passing on the energy and the positive values of sport).

“I have to thank many people for this award,” said Alessandro Fabian. “If I can achieve all my potential it is thanks to the [Italian Triathlon] Federation, the police, and the companies each year that believe in me and support me during the season.”

A room filled with many guests included President of Italian Triathlon Federation (FITRI), Luigi Bianchi, who was part of the jury that awarded the prizes to the winners. Italian medley swimmer and TV commentator for Italian state TV RAI, Luca Sacchi, was also present – alongside representatives from the Italian Triathlon Federation and the wider tri industry.
