CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro added
CycleOps published power curves for the CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro Trainer
in there user manual so I went ahead and added it as a supported trainer for VirtualPower with the (beta) status until we know more about how consistent and accurate it is.
I don’t have this trainer and I haven’t done any testing with it. I’m hoping that some people with power meters that have this trainer will ride with it and we can look to see how well it matches up. If you want to do this, do a ride with your power meter as the source and mark in the notes that you used this trainer and at what setting you were on along with any other information about your setup (tire pressure, tension on tire, etc.).
In the graph the lines marked with “S” are the actual samples I took from the manual, while the others are the numbers from the derived virtual power formula. They all seem to line up pretty well with the exception of the Interval which is about 20w low at 10 mph and 20w high at 15 mph. The trainer basically has a curve for part of the range and a straight line for the second part of the range. So it is tough to get a really tight fit by approximating it with a 3rd order polynomial.
