This year’s IRONMAN Austria in Klagenfurt was a total triumph for Castelli athletes, who took both the women’s and men’s titles at Lake Wörthersee. Mirinda Carfrae (AUS) looked strong right from the start and took charge halfway through the bike leg. On the bike the triple IRONMAN world champion gained an advantage from the aerodynamically optimized T1:Stealth W Top and clocked an incredible 4:47:39 bike split. With a concluding marathon of 2:49:06 (new PB), she set a new women’s race record to finish in 8:41:17. While Carfrae was racing in Austria for the first time, Marino Vanhoenacker was on the starting line for the 8th time. In the days prior to the race the Belgian had left no doubt that he would be the man to beat. However, his rivals put in everything they had and showed that they would not go down without a fight. It was not until KM 150 on the bike that he was able to distance his competitors, but he entered T2 with a race-best 4:19:57 bike split and a lead of 4:11. With a 2:47:13 run, Vanhoenacker was able to continue his impressive winning streak at IRONMAN Austria, taking his 8th Klagenfurt title in 8:04:18 The Belgian pewag racing team athlete debuted a ...

Athletes – pros and amateurs – had to deal with one of the hottest days in recent Kona history at the 2015 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Cloudless sky in the morning, almost no swell and temperatures up to 39°C exhausted the participants past Saturday. Almost all supposed race favorites reached T1 together and a few attacks within the big leading group with more than 15 athletes were unsuccessful. After the turning point in Hawi Timothy O’Donnell mustered up his courage, attacked and formed a small gap. Unfortunately he faced a mechanical shortly before entering T2 and had Frodeno to let pass who left T2 as the race leader. “Sometimes you get an opportunity and you just have to take it and not look back.”     O’Donnell – dressed in aerodynamic T1:Stealth Top and Free two piece kit – claimed the third fastest bike split of the day. He started the concluding marathon in second position, fought bravely and achieved his first Kona podium with third place in 8:18:50, behind winner Jan Frodeno and Andreas Raelert. The American after the race: „I am really proud of taking the risk on the bike. I expected I can have a performance like this ...

Defending Ironman World Champion Mirinda Carfrae had planned to somehow produce something even better than last year’s masterpiece. Mirinda Carfrae’s third Ironman World Championship victory on Saturday in Kona, Hawaii, didn’t look like a possibility at the T2 (transition from bike to run), Carfrae exited with more than 14 minutes behind then race leader Daniela Ryf. Carfrae broke her own run course record, set last year, when she moved past Ryf in the marathon and giving her the third Ironman world title of her career. Two years after launching its line of innovative triathlon apparel, Castelli was again worn to victory at the pinnacle event of the sport. Carfrae wore the scorpion to a stunning victory, with 2013 Champion Frederick Van Lierde finishing 8th on the day, and a host of other professionals and countless age groupers relying on the technical advantages of Castelli tri gear to achieve their personal bests. “The input and feedback of the sport’s top professionals has been crucial in the development of our entire range of triathlon apparel.”       “We couldn’t be happier for Rinny,” said Castelli Brand Manager Steve Smith.  “The input and feedback of the sport’s top professionals has been crucial in the development of our entire range ...
