PERFETTO JERSEY – PRO REQUESTED PERFECTION There’s no denying that the Gabba jersey has been a game changer in pro cycling. Most of the peloton pulls it out whenever the weather is cold or wet. But sometimes the Gabba can be too warm. Its allover protection can make it feel too hot for racing in cool conditions, so our pro riders asked for protection like the Gabba but with more breathability for milder conditions. THE START OF A NEW CHAPTER – CHPT. /// Chpt. III x Castelli is a unique collaboration between recently retired British pro David ...

Castelli are renowned for making garments that stand the test of time. But one item they produce has been more than just a game changer. It’s caused rival manufactures to sit up and try to keep up, it’s changed what many riders now expect from cycle clothing, it’s caused a tremor in the cycle clothing world that will surely be felt for a long time to come. You probably guessed what said item is, the now renowned Gabba. You know you’ve produced something special when it has an impact on the culture it was intended for, this may be the mainstream culture, a sub culture or in this case cycling culture. History has several examples of clothing making an impact on the culture of its time, changing and in some cases challenging how people think a product should look or perform. Mary Quant can lay claim to being the brains behind the mini skirt, it shook mainstream culture in a way that very few clothes had or have since. It was a rebellious item and still is, even 4 decades on. It screams what youth culture was at all about in the 60’s. Tennis culture had Stan Smith and Adidas, ...

Castelli was well represented at yesterday’s Ironman 70.3 European Championship in Wiesbaden (Germany). Andreas Raelert was the most successful athlete by winning the silver medal. He crossed the finish line in 4:05:03 hours just behind his compatriot Boris Stein who won the race in 4:03:08 hours. “I am very glad that I might have had success to get my qualification for the Ironman Hawaii on October 10th done with this race.” During the swim in the Lake Raunheimer Waldsee, Swiss Manuel Küng was the expected leader. He started the race at a high pace and opened up an early gap. At about half way of the 1.9 kilometer swim Manuel Küng’s attack divided the lead group into two parts. After a third of the tough 90 k ride Andreas Raelert took over the lead. “I wanted to bring myself into a good position at an early stage of this race,” he said after the race. Thanks to a great bike performance, Boris Stein soon took over the lead and opened up a significant gap. Andreas Raelert downsized the gap kilometer by kilometer. Through 15 k of the half marathon he was only around 2:30 minutes behind his leading compatriot and finally finished the race ...

This Sunday Wiesbaden will host the Ironman 70.3 European Championship for the 9th time. The race offers a challenging, yet scenic course in southwest Germany. Lake “Raunheimer Waldsee” is the venue for the 1,9 k swim. A challenging 90 k bike loop will lead the athletes into a series of hilly climbs with steep descents. The concluding half marathon, splitted into a four-loop course, takes athletes through downtown Wiesbaden and has a drawn-out descent that lends itself to a spectacular, spectator-filled finish. After winning Müritz Triathlon two weeks ago, Andreas is well prepared to compete in a strong field of almost 70 professional male athletes. After his DNF and a solid block of training Andreas Giglmayr is keen on starting into a successful second half of the season in Wiesbaden. Local hero Matthias Knossalla probably knows the course better than any other actor. He has had a difficult summer when he was only able to swim for six weeks after he crashed out of Ironman 70.3 Mallorca in May. Just in time and as an additional motivation, he got his confirmation for Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Zell am See later this month. All Castelli pros will benefit from the performance ...

Once again Castelli starts a new chapter together with David. By coincidence or destiny we started our own comeback chapter with David at Saunier Duval in 2007 and then joined up again for his last 4 years. At some unremarkable race hotel the seeds were sown for a new creative collaboration. We’ve always obsessively focused on performance clothing for the racer, now we’re focused on one very stylish bike racer as the focus shifts. British-Italian fusion at its finest. “I’ve created a brand that will encompass everything I’ve learnt from my years racing at the highest level, our first project is the most obvious as it’s what I’ve often been most involved – clothing.” (David Millar) From David’s side it’s been a long time coming. “In my final years racing I repeatedly got asked about the next chapter in my life, was I excited about? What would it be? That sort of thing. Well, this is it, and this time, nobody’s telling me what to wear. “I’ve created a brand that will encompass everything I’ve learnt from my years racing at the highest level, our first project is the most obvious as it’s what I’ve often been most involved – ...
