Red Hook 2017 Milano

It has become the can’t-miss event for the brakeless, fixed-gear world. Today, the Red Hook Criterium is the king of the fixie events, and Milano just hosted the last crit of the year. Castelli was there too, not only with the official Red Hook jersey but also with two participating teams. Our women’s team partner LA Sweat was in the race, and the men’s team Cykeln showed off a violet and mint green Castelli skinsuit. After Brooklyn, London and Barcelona, Milano is the fourth city on the Red Hook calendar. It was the second race to be established, after the concept was launched in the Red Hook neighborhood of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Bovisa, the university district north of Milano, hosted the event, where 34 different countries were represented by the participating athletes. More than 10,000 spectators attended the race. It was a very special day of cycling indeed. The athletes are there with you all day long: you can chat with them, you can watch them warming up on the rollers, you can wait for the next lap with a craft beer and a local-style sandwich. Record-breaking Hawaii 2017

This year’s World Championship was packed with action and new records. Lots of athletes took advantage of the ideal conditions with mirror flat water and almost no wind on race day. Australian Cameron Wurf put everything on one card early in the race and set a new bike record. Like last year, Patrick Lange brought his strength into play on the concluding marathon and took the title and a course record in winning the World Championship in a thrilling race. A comeback is seldom without ups and downs

On Tuesday morning, I wrote a small post on my personal website about my first UCI race since January 2016. I had wanted to write it on Sunday night or at least Monday morning, but when disappointment hits, writing a post to tell the world about how badly you feel about a race, isn’t the first thing you want to do – or do at all. I spent most of the travel home and Sunday night being annoyed with myself, doubting myself and asking myself if I maybe should have just retired after all. I choose to return to cyclocross because I wanted to show that I have still more to give and mostly proof to myself that I could come back after a series of illnesses and injuries. But one thing that I have battled with more than ever since I made the decision to come back is my own thoughts. I have always said that my head is my Achilles heel and worst enemy when it comes to racing, sometimes I think it is worse dealing with that than the injury I have dealt with over the last 18 months. Kona 2017 – Castelli’s pro athletes

Like every year, the Ironman® World Championships in Kona is the showdown for most pro and amateur triathletes. Over 2,000 athletes will tackle the 226k distance next Saturday. At 6:35am the male pros will start the race, followed by the female pros only five minutes later. The pack of age group athletes will follow at 7:05 (men) and 7:20 (women). Castelli has phenomenal athletes at the start this year.
