Van Lierde and Lester dominate Ironman France
Past weekend’s IRONMAN France (Nice) was a total triumph for Castelli athletes, who took the women’s and men’s titles at Côte d’Azur. Carrie Lester (AUS) – who was opting for a Free Speed W Race Jersey to ensure good aerodynamics on the bike and additional sun protection paired with Free W Tri Shorts – crossed the line first in 9:27:53, 10:38 ahead of runner-up Annabel Luxford. Belgian Frederik Van Lierde – a frequent competitor in France – managed to seal his 4th victory at Promenade des Anglais this year. During his 8:31:31 on the course he relied on his trusted Free Tri ITU Suit. Here are some impressions of Carrie’s and Frederik’s triumph captured by Rainer Bauerdick and Oliver Dom.
Photo Essay: What an exciting few weeks and amazing team performance
Chris Froome wrote himself further into the cycling history books after securing a fourth Tour de France victory in Paris. The Team Sky rider was flanked by his team-mates as he crossed the line on the Champs-Elysees, and claimed the famed maillot jaune by an eventual winning margin of 54 seconds. Froome’s third victory in a row, and a fifth in eight years for Team Sky, came after three hard weeks of racing, with the team holding the race lead for 19 of the race’s 21 stages. Climber’s Jersey and Inferno Bibshort – the ultimate summer kit
The Climber’s Jersey and Inferno Bibshort are designed for racing in the mountains or in hot weather. We didn’t want to completely ignore aerodynamics, so we used patterning similar to our Aero Race 5.1 Jersey, which we knew was fast. The resulting jersey is extremely cool and light and instantly became a favorite with our pro riders. The Inferno, our hot-weather short, features a highly breathable and light fabric on the sides and back of the legs, plus the airy GiroAir leg band. The Team Sky riders are wearing this in all conditions because it also happens to fit extremely well and is one of the most comfortable shorts they’ve ever worn.
