Geraint Thomas put in a strong enough performance in the final time trial to seal overall victory at the 2018 Tour de France with just the Paris stage to come. Stage 20 offered a unique opportunity for the Castelli crew to follow the Welshman when his TT suit was fitted, to warm up, through bike check, and right to the start ramp.                         Photo & video by Marco Nani

The past three weeks haven proven in an impressive way that the most important bike race can only be won if everyone is moving in the same direction. As an individual person one might be able to shine for a day or two but going through thick and thin requires full dedication of every single team member. Geraint Thomas‘ has not only won the 6th Tour for Team Sky but also celebrated two stage victories including the prestigious arrival at Alpe d’Huez. Take a minute to enjoy some of the most memorable moments of this year’s three weeks in France. Photo credits: CyclingImages, Ashley and Jered Gruber, Gettysports, Marco Nani

The 20th edition of Ironman Austria (Klagenfurt) was held in perfect long distance weather, not too hot and a light breeze. Starting the race it was clear that Pewag Racing Team athletes were willing to take an offensive approach. Two of them – Beatrice Weiß and Lukasz Wojt – lead the race for some time. The latter almost until the end of the bike leg and finally finished 6th overall. Russian Ivan Tutukin was catching up (fastest marathon of the day, 2:40h) and almost caught winner Michael Weiss. The 2018 Tour de France takes in everything that makes cycling such an exciting sport. Cobbles, explosive arrivals, sprints, dust roads, high mountains, a hilly time trial on the penultimate stage before La Grande Boucle finishes on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. With nine stages completed, the first week of the Tour de France is over after the Tour exploded into life on the roads leading from Arras to Roubaix. The stars fell like ninepins on the cobbles of the Hell of the North. There were mechanicals. There were tears on the road, and tears on the podium. But the thrills and spills that provided a stream of crashes were at significant cost to the peloton. Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome battled their way to strong finishes, both took a tumble, survived, and finished with the main group – which numbered less than 30 riders – 27 seconds back. Geraint is now at the head of the ‘virtual’ classification, in the light of the forthcoming Alpine stages which will not favor the current race leader, Greg Van Avermaet. Enjoy Ashley and Jered Gruber’s stunning images from an action-packed cobblestoned Stage 9 of the Tour de France. Photo | GruberImages
