After a grueling stage 5 summit finish that opened major gaps on the Tirreno-Adriatico GC, a mostly flat stage 6 did not offer quite the reprieve many might have expected, thanks to Gabba like weather conditions, cold and wet,  that confronted the peloton during the 210-kilometer stage from Rieti to Porto Sant’Elpidio. It was a textbook leadout by team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung as Boasson Hagen hit the front with Gerald Ciolek on his wheel at the 350m to go sign. The German speedster then started his sprint over the final 150m. Sagan, who was right on Ciolek ‘s wheel showed a quick acceleration to nab his first win since July 2014. Everything  looks promising for the African Team for Saturdays Milano-Sanremo, what some might call the truest sprint of the year. Photo: Slipstreamsports and MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung.

“This? This is Classics weather,” says Todd Herriot as he ponders his choice of gloves and leg warmers in the parking lot at Log Boom Park. Those words turned out to be quite foreboding of the two hours that followed. With spring just around the corner and the start of the road racing season in the PNW only a week away, this Saturday morning featured the season’s (or off-season’s) last Rocket Ride. The ride brings together some of the fastest riders in the area on an almost 50-mile trek of rural roads and hills. It is a tough ride on a good day. This was not a good day. Temperatures were pegged firmly in the upper-30 territory and the light drizzle turned to cold rain at 9 o’clock as if on schedule. The conditions continued to deteriorate until rain turned to sleet turned to snow. Major kudos to all of the riders and the finishers. A big thanks to Jim for driving the “photo car”, not getting us lost and always placing me in a good spot. Thanks to: Andy Bokanev

Creating clothing for athletes at the highest level of the sport is the most demanding proving ground for Castelli. Ryder Hesledal will not only be reaping the benefits of his lightweight Cervélo R5ca bike on the epic Giro mountain stages, the super light weight and quick drying Castelli Inferno shorts and Climbers jersey gave him an extra advantage in the big mountains. CLIMBERS JERSEY – its almost impossible to see the difference between the Garmin Aero Race jersey and the Climbers jersey on television. Made from our super light weight Strada Light 3D mesh, and an aero Velocity fabric, it’s cut to hug the torso and to eliminate any excess fabric flapping when battling into the wind. It’s 90 grams of next-to-nothing, our quickest drying jersey ever, and it gives up just 3 watts at 40 km/h compared to the Aero Race jersey. Super light weight and fast drying Strada Light 3D mesh. One of the jersey’s advantageous properties is that it hardly absorb water. After all, what good would a lightweight jersey be if it soaked up water like a standard cycling jersey. So it’s light whether wet or dry, and the fabric is knit as a mesh. This ...

When do you really know that a product is REALLY good. Well for us the ultimate endorsement is when a Pro pays to use a non-sponsored product or other brands start copying you. Sharp eyes will notice how many pro riders from other teams use the original Gabba with the logos blacked out. Some other brands have tried to copy it, but pros know they’re at a disadvantage if they don’t have a real Gabba. Products like the Gabba WS Jersey define Castelli. Based on pro rider needs, created to offer a tangible competitive advantage, and developed in a no-compromise pursuit of performance. Left: a non-Garmin rider wearing a blackout version the Gabba jersey at Amstel Gold Race. Right: Brajkovic with the Gabba LS Jersey. The weather for Stage 3 of Volta a Catalunya (2012) was shocking with rain, sleet, snow and cold temperatures. Perfect condition for wearing the Gabba. Luca Paolini (Team Katusha) well protected from the elements with the tight-fitting non-branded aero Gabba jersey. Supplying the Italian National Cycling Team, Castelli not only supply the race jersey and short, but the full aero-wardrobe, including Sanremo SpeedSuit, Body Paint SpeedSuit, Gabba WS Jersey, Aero Shoe-cover’s etc. Right image: Tour ...

Spotted on the start line at the Giro’s second stage in windy and cold Denmark: the Gabba jersey. We designed it for racing in the rain, but it’s a Garmin team favorite even for cool dry days like today. Rasmussen, Hunter, Rossler and Stetina all started in Herning fully protected yet fully aero.
