Omloop Thermal Bib Short – Pro innovation

We first saw this back in 2009 when our Cervélo TestTeam rider Jeremy Hunt rode the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in knee warmers that he had cut to knee length. It took six years for it to catch on, but we saw half a dozen or so riders starting the 2015 Omloop with that same look. So we engineered a fabric that lets us leave a soft raw edge at the back of the knee that won’t cut into you, and we started riding prototypes. Once again the guys who do this for a living have come up with a new way to dress. It’s significantly warmer than a thermal short but doesn’t feel overdressed like a knicker. At the Belgian classics we’ve seen the pros cutting off their knee warmers to have a thermal layer just to the knee. So we made up some shorts to ride in and quickly realized that the pros are onto something. It feels significantly warmer than a thermal short but without the restriction of 3/4 knickers. We developed a soft raw-cut edge so it’s not going to cut into the back of your knee. Plus it looks very pro. Long socks required.

Ironman® World Championships: All eyes on the defending champions?

One of Kona’s unwritten rules is: „Never bet against the champions of last year!“ In the end the race starts with a gunshot and equal opportunity for all athletes this Saturday. Last year’s race proved that being an outsider need not be a disadvantage when Andreas Raelert, whom only a few had on the radar on that day, stormed to 2nd place. Timothy O’Donnell, who especially set accents on the bike, finished 3rd. Not winning the race last year doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be promising perspectives to make a mark on race day. The Red Hook crit No. 1 started in 2008 in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn, as a celebration of the David Trimble 26th birthday. Since then has grown to be become something of an institution amongst cyclists in New York City and has spawned additional races in London, Barcelona and Milan. Last Saturday we were in Milan (the final) and we saw an awesome race, we were in a sort of Formula One event with all the ingredients: warm-up, qualifying rounds, excellent foods, beautiful girls, fashion characters and so on!
