First of all I would like to thank CDC-Sport for inviting me to this trip and enabling me to participate in that spectacular event. The “24 ore Felte” or “Castelli 24H race” is some kind of criterium and is raced by almost 100 teams (each consisting of 12 riders) around the old town of Feltre (Italy) at the bottom of the Dolomites and only a stone’s throw away from Castelli’s headquarters. My adventure started on Thursday June 5, one day before race day. Our tour group (among others ex-professional Cata Martinez on behalf of “Ciclos Cabello” (Córdoba), Esteban from CDC-Sport in Andalusia, Juan and Miguel of “TriaWorld) departed from Malaga airport. We handed off our bikes and took our flight to Milan (2h45min). At Milan, we loaded our rental car and waded into our three hour drive to hotel “Casagrande” in Feltre. We quickly unpacked our bikes before we left for dinner and stretched our legs by walking through the old town of Feltre – a pleasant way to finish our day of traveling. Friday – race day: After breakfast we decided to make use of the spectacular cycling opportunities in the Feltre area and went for a two hour spin. Via road SP-473 ...

Carfrae, ironman, kona, Mirinda, News, ruzafa, Triathlon, Van Lierde, XTERRA -

What does it take to win in Hawaii? Apparently Castelli’s Free tri line is de rigueur. Ironman champions Frederik Van Lierde and Mirinda Carfrae, along with XTERRA champ Ruben Ruzafa all earned their victories in Castelli’s Free race kits. Free is the result of years of Castelli aerodynamic research in cycling clothing resulting in flat seams and aerodynamic fabric surfaces that minimize time on the bike, along with run-enhancing comfort and temperature management. Rinny won in the Free W Tri Short that is the same that you can buy, though we had to make a custom fit for her small frame. Her Free W Tri Singlet is the same construction as our inline construction although she wanted it without the front zipper. Frederik used the Free one piece race suit. To give his sponsors maximum visibility he actually used the version with the back zipper that was designed for ITU racing. Ruben used the Free two piece suit that has carried him to multiple XTERRA victories all season. All three athletes enjoyed the innovative Kiss Tri seat pad. It’s one of the most padded seat pads in Tri for maximum comfort on the bike, but thanks to Castelli’s skiving technology ...

Free ITU Suit, hawaii, ironman, News, Triathlon, Van Lierde -

Hawaii Champion Frederik Van Lierde is back on the road to success. This year’s focus of the 35 year old Belgian lays on defending his Kona title in October. After finishing 4th at all his previous 2014 races so far (Abu Dhabi, Cannes and Aix en Provence), he showed this class and triumphed at half distance triathlon ‘Extreme Man’ in Düren (Germany). Just like at IRONMAN Hawaii, Van Lierde relied on Castelli’s one-pices suit FREE ITU SUIT. This suit is designed for best aerodynamics and comfort and – thanks to the two back pockets – is also suitable for long distance racing. Castelli also offers this world championship-winning piece to be customized for your team. After a short rest, he will proceed with his preparation for the European Championships at IRONMAN Frankfurt on July 6. This race will be a real showdown of some of the strongest athletes in IRONMAN circus including multiple IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Sebastian Kienle and Olympic Champion Jan Frodeno. amgen tour of california, garmin. sharp, Mt. Diablo, Nathan Brown, nothing -

Pupils dilated and blank, vaguely focused on an indeterminate point that no observer will ever see—it’s known as the 1,000-yard stare, a term used to describe the expression of a battle-weary soldier. When Nathan Brown finally reached the summit atop Mt. Diablo, he had spent nearly 5 hours in the saddle in 90-degree heat. Sweat poured from his body; perspiration had spread and then fixed itself in salt patterns across his jersey; and road grit had somehow found its way onto his face. “I was really suffering from the heat and came undone about 3K from the top,” said Nathan. “I have never been so happy to reach the finish as I was that day.” As a neo-pro coming off a U-23 season, Nathan had to deal with the grueling pace set by the pro peloton as it raced up Mt. Diablo, all the while trying to help keep Garmin-Sharp teammate, Rohan Dennis, in a position to fight for the win. As the stage was determined over the final kilometer at the summit of Mt. Diablo, it was Dennis who surged ahead for the victory, arms raised in celebration. Crossing the line shortly after, Nathan slumped to the ground, exhausted. For ...
