Postcards from La Grande Boucle – Week 1

Castelli 24H – Racing Through the Night

The Castelli 24-hour race ticks all the boxes for a great cycling party central, its fun, sociable, enjoyable, sociable, fast and exhilarating as 80 teams of 12 riders tackle the 24 hour race. Each of them had their own tactic for the race, splitting the team in to groups of three who rotated in a two – three hour shifts, typically riding between 15-25 minutes throughout with crowds screaming all the way around the circuit. Amongst those riding for the victory, measured in total number of laps, were some of Italy’s top amateur teams, a few professionals and ex- world champions, you know it’s no walk in the park. Tour de Suisse in photos

The final stage of the Tour de Suisse saw a shake up in the General Classification as Tony Martin (Omega Pharma Quickstep) finally lost his grip on the yellow leaders jersey. World Road Race Champion, Rui Costa (Lampre Merida), would walk away as overall victor of the Tour de Suisse for the 3rd year in succession. We’ve pulled together a selection of the best photos from the nine-stage race to tell the story of how the race unfolded for the Castelli equipped teams, Garmin-Sharp and MTN-Qhubeka, and share some shots of the great Swiss scenery.
