This Wednesday’s official team launch for Cannondale-Garmin Pro Cycling team will be streamed live here below from New York City at 8:35pm local time, 2:35am CET, Jan. 7th. The live online coverage will feature attendee arrivals, introductions, interviews with members of the 2015 Cannondale-Garmin team, and the much-anticipated unveiling of the team’s 2015 Castelli kit. Representing the 2015 team at the launch will be Andrew Talansky, Ben King, Dan Martin, Davide Formolo, Joe Dombrowski and Ted King, along with team CEO Jonathan Vaughters. Numbers, figures and reams of data from wind tunnels, computer fluid dynamics and multiple other mechanical testing procedures may be the way many companies like to give the consumer a good idea at how great a product they are making. In many respects all this digital and controlled testing is great, but when it comes to the real deal, it’s out on the open road that shows weather a product really performs. To test a product to its ultimate limit you need harsh and epic conditions. Usually people don’t like going out and suffering through these conditions, especially when it comes to that wet and cold variety of weather. When I found myself in a situation that accidentally and unfortunately allowed me and a friend to give kit we were using the ultimate test it’s not until after the event that you’re able to look back and see how well a product does its job. Taiwan may not be the first place you think of when imagining great cycling destinations, I for one had never seen it as an ideal cycling destination. But an invite for a trip to the island to tackle the Taiwan KOM Challenge was to show me ...

Although winter weather is coming—it has already arrived in some areas—it shouldn’t keep anyone indoors during one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. Between sunbreaks and showers, quiet roads are walled in with color, begging to be explored. It was on such a day that Garmin-Sharp rider, Alex Howes, stopped by the Castelli USA office in Portland, Oregon. His schedule was pretty tight, but he was able to give us a couple hours for a quick photo/video shoot in the area. We headed out to Rocky Point Road, just north of the city, and he pointed his bike uphill. The short climb had nothing of the sweeping alpine vistas that are found in europe, but the wet roads and play of bright-colored leaves against the dark trees made for some nice images of the new Alpha Wind Jersey.
