Bringing to end a near-decade with one team and embarking on a new project with another, Tyler Farrar has confirmed that he will race with the Team MTN-Qhubeka squad in 2015. The American has taken six individual stages in Grand Tours; one in the 2011 Tour de France, two in the 2010 Giro d’Italia and three Vuelta stages between 2009 and 2010. However his rate of victories has slowed in the past two seasons and the 30 year old is looking for a fresh start to try to get things back on track. “I am really excited and happy to be joining Team MTN-Qhubeka next year,” he said. “This is a big change for me in my cycling career after having spent seven years with my current team. I feel it is the perfect timing for me to move on though and Team MTN-Qhubeka is definitely the team that appealed to me the most.” Farrar is part of a general fortifying of the team; new signings include Edvald Boasson Hagen and Theo Bos and, together with the current team captain Gerald Ciolek, the team will have a strong sprinting and Classics presence in 2015. Leeds, UK. It’s the Wednesday before the Tour de France and it’s the first time we catch up with Andrew since his epic win at the Dauphiné. While it would have been cool to have actually been at the Dauphiné finish, that would have meant missing the most riveting day of racing and seeing every move on TV. When Andrew rolled into the hotel lobby, you could see the change in the man. He had a lighter step. And a big smile. He exuded confidence, but not a cocky confidence. Just calm confidence. We met Andrew at the team training camp in his first year at Garmin-Cervélo in 2011. He was gracious enough to sit down for a couple of long chats touching on everything from his goals, his thoughts on joining Garmin, the new generation of clean cyclists, and the difference that clothing can make at this level. Andrew immediately impressed as a bright, articulate neo pro but certainly didn’t lack in ambition or confidence. Some journalists called him cocky which didn’t quite sit with what we saw. I’d say it was more of an inward focus on getting the best out of himself. He started 2011 with a ...

Five years ago, while Alberto Contador was riding to victory in the Tour de France, Andrew Talansky was scratching out a living in races across the United States. Last month, Talansky secured the overall victory at the Critérium du Dauphiné on the final stage putting more than a minute into overnight leader Contador. Today, the 25-year-old Talansky is ready to lead Team Garmin-Sharp in pursuit of the Tour de France yellow jersey. Andrew will be supported by a strong argyle squad, including fellow young Americans Ben King and Alex Howes, both making their Tour de France debuts this year. Howes has been a part of the Slipstream organization since he was a junior in 2004. Tom-Jelte Slagter comes off a strong season to-date with stage wins at Paris-Nice and top-ten finishes in La Fleche Wallone and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Sebastian Langeveld, the newly crowned Dutch National Road Champion, has netted top-ten finishes in this year’s Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders. The team is rounded out by 2011 Paris-Roubaix winner, Johan Vansummeren; Janier Acevedo, 9th overall in the recent Tour de Suisse and the Tour of California,  Ramunas Navardauskas, 2014 Lithuanian National Time Trial Champion, and Jack Bauer, who won the Prologue of the 2014 ...
