Castelli’s new Free Aero Race Bibshort has been redesigned from the bottom up, inside out, and top down, and back to front –  it’s a brand new bibshort named after their best selling bibshort ever. Early Spring here at PEZ HQ means I’ve logged a few good rides in ‘em and they’ve impressed enough to warrant a stand alone review. It’s not often we dedicate the space, or time to a detailed review of a single item of riding kit, but there’s a lot of smart thinking and technical design in these bibshorts to make them worth talking about.  Virtually every part of the short has been rethought, redesigned and rebuilt – from the materials, to panel shapes, to fit and feel, to replace the Free Bibshort launched in 2007, that Castelli says changed the bibshort industry with the “feeling of freedom it provided” – and there’s where the name came from.   The  front is cut low for easy access, and a more comfy fit under the belly, instead of over it. I count 10 panels of material (plus the seat pad) on the new Free Aero Race bibs (part of their top-shelf Rosso Corsa line) – more than ...

More than a race, Parix-Roubaix is a surviving test. Wiggins, Boom and Kristoff probably will drive the race, and whatever will be, Paris-Roubaix will be epic. Let’s take a look at this photogallery made by Jered Gruber. Honestly these photos make us dream if we think to the race of this weekend. You can see the dust from the cobble stone with this MTN-Qhubeka peloton, and it makes you think how much mess there will be sunday on the race with 25 teams riding this race. We have MTN-Qhubeka teams here, making a brief for the race. MTN-Qhubeka obtained the wild card to ride in this race. MTN’s team is not short of Classics experience either, with Edvald Boasson Hagen, Tyler Farrar and Theo Bos likely to lead the line this spring. MTN’s fellow Tour de France invitees, Bora – Argon 18 will also line up at the Hell of the North, having taken part in the race as NetApp-Endura in 2014. Wanty-Groupe Gobert’s Bjorn Leukemans was the best-placed wildcard finisher in last year’s race, finishing 47s down on winner Niki Terpstra in 15th.

There has been a lot of hype and press surrounding Steele Von Hoff recently with his wins in Australia earlier in the year but no-one ever knew how that was going to transfer to British roads in British races. Today we had our answer. The Australian NFTO rider was at the front during the neutralised part of the race and always near the front from then on so it was no surprise after many laps of attacks coming and going, that when a dozen or so riders got away, Steele was in there with a lot of other strong riders. Along with Steele, no surprise that Ireland’s Eddie Dunbar also of NFTO, who had been covering everything early on, was also in there along with the likes of Yanto Barker and Marcin Bialoblocki, youngster Rory Towsend, Will Bjergfelt (Sportgrub Kuota), Mike Cuming, Richard Handley, and Will Goulbourne. There were others too and the break quickly opened up a massive gap on the peloton which at one stage was so far behind, it was in danger of being stopped before the finish. After a late attack from Rory Towsend who didn’t want a group from behind to catch them, Steele Von ...
