This year’s World Championship was packed with action and new records. Lots of athletes took advantage of the ideal conditions with mirror flat water and almost no wind on race day. Australian Cameron Wurf put everything on one card early in the race and set a new bike record. Like last year, Patrick Lange brought his strength into play on the concluding marathon and took the title and a course record in winning the World Championship in a thrilling race. Like every year, the Ironman® World Championships in Kona is the showdown for most pro and amateur triathletes. Over 2,000 athletes will tackle the 226k distance next Saturday. At 6:35am the male pros will start the race, followed by the female pros only five minutes later. The pack of age group athletes will follow at 7:05 (men) and 7:20 (women). Castelli has phenomenal athletes at the start this year.
