Going to Italy? Swing by the bicycle museum of Cosseria

Make sure to spend a few hours at the Museo della Bicicletta on your next trip to the North-West part of Italy. Cyclist since forever, Luciano Berruti is an unique character, a man out of time, fond of bicycles, and raced 18 editions of the world famous amateur race, Eroica di Gaiole in Chianti. The 205-kilometer cycling race winds its way through dirt and gravel roads in the hills of Tuscany. At rest stops along the course, they are fed a decidedly unathletic diet of prosciutto, salame and Chianti wine. Many ride one-speed antique bicycles, some of which are 100 years old. The retired construction worker Berruti usually ride his single-gear Peugeot bicycle from 1907. “She makes me feel young,” said the mustachioed rider in a patched-up sweater.  In 1999, Luciano opened a cycling museum in Cosseria, a village in the province of Savona, not far from Cairo Montenotte, on the north side of Apennines of Liguria.  Enjoy the video! Recon: Monte Grappa Cycling

Join  Bike Channel (in Italian) for a recon of a portion of the Gran Fondo Monte Grappa Cycling route with a total of 3,456 meters of climbing. The race will take place on Sunday, September 7th. Or possibly how they’ll all be made in a few years when everyone else follows our lead once again. With the Alpha, we’re introducing several new techniques and fabrics to construct a lightweight, cool and cold weather jacket. We’ve focused on two perennial problems with cycling jackets and wind jerseys. First is ventilation. With our latest fabrics we can essentially build a winter jacket that will keep you warm in all but the most extreme conditions with just a base layer underneath. But when you open the front zipper you get a blast of cold air at the top of your chest, while the rest of your body remains too hot.   OBSESSION WITH COMFORT In Alpha we’ve detached the insulation layer from the windproof layer so that you can open the windproof layer to let air in to ventilate and help evaporate moisture. Theo Bos Joins Team MTN-Qhubeka

Former track Olympic silver medalist and 5 time world champion, Theo Bos, will ride in Castelli and Team MTN-Qhubeka colors next season. Going pro in 2009, Theo has worn the Cervélo TestTeam, Rabobank and Belkin Pro-Cycling Team outfits over the last 5 years, Bos has been able to take his professional win tally up to 35 race victories. Most recently Bos won a stage in the World Tour event, Tour de Pologne, the overall GC victory at the World Ports classic and 4 stage wins in the crazy bunch sprints of Le Tour de Langkawi earlier in the year.
