With a magnificent race at the Challenge Bahrain, Michael Raelert has ended a phenomenal 2014 season for Castelli.  The 34-year old won the first edition of the half-distance event in the Kingdom of Bahrain on Santa Claus day in 3:36:04 hours. Michael Raelert took the win ahead of his fellow countryman Andreas Dreitz (3:38:23 hours) and Australian Tim Reed (3:39:26 hours). As all year Michael benefited from the aero and performance advantage of Castelli’s FREE tri collection. “I’m totally happy. I’m absolutely over the moon. This is a fantastic end of the season. When you win a race, it always feels good, but if you can even win a big race like this one, it’s just overwhelming. And the most important thing is: I’m back after my injury.” In the past few weeks there have been many rumors about the new event in Bahrain. It was not only the flat race course which promised a superb race, but especially a stellar pro field. “If you read all these names, you are anything else but cool when you start into such a race,” said Michael Raelert after the finish on the Formula 1 circuit of Manama. He came down the finish ...

Il Lombardia 2014: Finalmente Dan Martin! What a spectacular win and huge relief for Dan who had most of his season destroyed by bad luck, including the violent crash he suffered in the Giro d’Italia. Martin played his cards perfectly today, pulling clear in a group of big favourites up the final climb inside the last 5km. And when some attacks from that group came up short and the leaders started looking at each other with around 500 metres remaining, the Irishman swept through the final right-hand corner and just kept on going, sprinting solo for victory. A happy Dan Martin punch the air several times in victory, the clearly frustration of his near season-ending crash in the Giro d’Italia and his crash in the final corner when leading solo at Liège–Bastogne–Liège, everything being released in the final moments of the 2014 Lombardia. Dan’s victory in Lombardia is his second one-day Monument victory of his career, after he won at Liège–Bastogne–Liège in 2013. After Milan-San Remo, the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Il Lombardia is the fifth and final Monument of the season. Martin’s win today was the fourth time an Irish rider has won Lombardy, with Sean Kelly having taken ...

Andreas Raelert, Gdynia, German, ironman, News, Raelert, Triathlon, victory -

Andreas Raelert has won Herbalife Triathon in Gdynia, Poland, in a sovereign way. In 3:54:44 the Rostockian claimed the victory in the middle-distance event ahead of German Sean Donnelly (4:00:13) and Italian Massimo Cigana (4:01:08). Under hot conditions Andreas Raelert improved the course record at the Baltic Sea coast of last year’s winner Victor Zyemtsev (Ukraine) by more than six minutes. “I feel satisfied with my race,” said Andreas Raelert after the finish, “in general, the performance was very balanced. That gives me a lot of confidence for the upcoming tasks in this season.” After 23:49 minutes, Andreas Raelert came out of the water in second place. After he had mainly determined the pace on the 1.9 km long swim course in the Bay of Gdynia, he eventually exited the Sea closely behind his colleague Sean Donnelly (23:46). “On the bike we both kept the speed high,” said Andreas Raelert, “only on the last 15 kilometers, Sean was able to break away a little bit.” Andreas Raelert rode the 90 kilometer bike course in 2:10:21 and entered T2 just 1:15 minutes behind the leader. However, he was able to reduce the gap early in the run and quickly caught up ...

farrarAnother fantastic day for the Garmin-Cervelo. Tyler Farrar took the team another step up with yesterdays’s stage win after the team time trial win on Sunday. Garmin-Cervélo played the waiting game and once HTC had lead the race to the final act the Argyle’s with the maillot jaune took over piloting their man Farrar to a perfect stage victory on the 4th of July.

Garmin-Cervélo could hardly have written a better script to the opening days of the Tour de France. With Thor Hushovd in yellow thanks to the victory on Sunday’s team time trial, the Norwegian’s sprinter made the lead-out of Tyler Farrar to take his first TdF stage win.

“It makes it even more special to win today,” Farrar said. “The team was just perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better lead-out and equipment.
