In one year, the Enduro Giant des Portes du Mercantour will become an EWS, but this week-end already the 5th round of the Urge 1001 Enduro Tour looked like a world cup with all the french top guns and a EWS-approved hard route (60 km and 2070 m+ only for the first day). During two days, the 347 racers rode the green and grey huge trails of the Portes du Mercantour, and Francois Bailly-Maître finally win the fight with pro riders, for the second time, in front of Fabien Barel and Florian Nicolaï. Like it or not, the riding season is starting to slowly wind down – the leaves are turning, and the days are getting shorter. This also means the close of one of the biggest enduro series on the East Coast. The Vittoria Eastern States Cup headed back up to Vermont for the last round of racing during the first week of September. The largest of the ESC venues, Killington Resort, welcomed over 130 riders for the second time this season, and racers were eager to find out what was in store for them.
