Stanton Switch9er FS in Review – Fusing Steel and Aluminium in one Frame
With something of a cult following for their excellent titanium and steel hardtails, UK brand Stanton’s new 160 / 140 mm Switch9er FS combines steel and aluminium to produce an engineering enigma. Does this pairing make for the best of both worlds on the trails?
Sweet Protection Bushwacker Carbon MIPS
The Sweet Protection Bushwacker excels not only with its aesthetics, but also with its innovative safety features such as the MIPS technology, claimed to better absorb rotational forces that occur during falls, thus lowering the risk of head injuries. With 17 vent openings as well as 5 ventilation channels through the inside, cooling is never a problem. The OCCI-GRIP adjusting system fixes the helmet securely on the head.
RockShox Pike RCT3
The RockShox Pike RCT3 is the best trail fork of 2014. It offers an unbeatable balance of stiffness, performance, and weight, and impresses with its neat design and simple controls for the Charger damper unit. The Rapid Recovery System ensures more grip. Its smooth response qualities, high precision, and a progressive spring rate result in a fork that offers outstanding overall performance.
Platzangst Trailtech Evo Jacket
For cool guys: the Platzangst Trailtech Evo jacket comes in a casual but functional snowboard-look and ensures a comfortable fit with its mesh lining. Furthermore, it offers smart storage space for goggles and phone, etc. There is also an outer storage compartment for an MP3 player. On longer rides, the ventilation can be controlled with welcome adjustable venting under the armpits. The Trailtech is going against the trend of tight XC winter jackets and looks good even after a ride. It’s all about function and style!
O’Neal AMX Zipper Knee Pad
The O’Neal AMX Zipper knee pad can be removed in a matter of seconds without taking your shoes off, thanks to its lateral, well-integrated zipper. The pad offers good heat dissipation and pedaling comfort, and also offers clear advantages during an enduro race: on transfer stages or during a long uphill the legs can relax, cool and regenerate better. The pads combine impeccable fit with great protection.
