Will Pidcock stay at Ineos? ‘Other teams are interested in signing me’

Speaking with VeloNews at Volta ao Algarve this week, British star Tom Pidcock confirmed that his contract negotiations with Ineos Grenadiers are ongoing, and that, unsurprisingly, other teams have expressed a desire to sign the Olympic and world champion.

Pidcock’s current contract with Ineos is up this year, and he could officially sign with another team once cycling’s transfer window opens on August 1st. Pre-contract agreements are often made far in advance of that date.

“Of course, I’m going to stay in the sport longer than this year, so there are contract negotiations going on. There is interest but that’s all I’ll say,” Pidcock told VeloNews.

Pidcock, 22, is one of the sport’s most dynamic young talents. He’s a world-beater across multiple disciplines, with a legitimate chance of winning three World Championships in a single year. He’s already taken the first, winning Cyclocross Worlds in Arkansas this month.

VeloNews confirmed last month that Ineos and Dave Brailsford had not yet locked Pidcock into a new long-term deal. As one of the wealthiest teams in the sport, Ineos is likely to be able to match any incoming offers.
