Watch: A mindblowing backyard trials video
Lockdowns as a result of coronavirus have restricted the movement of cyclists worldwide, but they’ve also bred creativity. In recent weeks we’ve seen world records tumble on Zwift, massive indoor rides, and cyclocross flyovers built in backyards.
Now, the trials world is getting in on the act.
Ot Pi, a legend of the trials scene credited with founding the sport, is a 12-time world trials champion that was doing silly things on bikes before Danny Macaskill was born. Cooped up at home in Spain, he found some items lying around the house and garage – a dumbbell, a cruiser bike, some lengths of wood and ladders, an exercise ball – and constructed a backyard trials course.
The results are pretty mesmerising.
