Video: What it’s like on the ground at a strange, surreal Tour de France start
We’ve been on the ground for a few days here at the start of the Tour de France, finding out for ourselves what measures the organisers have been taking to keep everyone safe. There are new barriers, bigger gaps between those inside the race and those outside it, more rules surrounding the start village, and masks, of course, everywhere.
It’s a surreal start with very limited crowds and a sense that nobody knows what the next three weeks will hold.
