Video: A father and daughter’s inspiring bikepacking ride through Central Asia
What better way to spend quality time with a family member than on a shared journey into the unknown, from the seat of your bike? What better way to create shared memories than by spending three weeks riding through the rugged wilds of Central Asia?
In late 2018, father and daughter duo, Peter and Jess Cappendell, jetted off for one such adventure. Over 21 days, the pair covered 1,250km, battling illness, extreme winds and punishing altitudes to complete one heck of a memorable journey.
The film you can see above was shot by Peter (54) and Jess (20) over the course of their adventure. It documents the ups and downs they experienced together — both figurative and literal — as they made their way through the beautifully sparse landscapes of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The film comes from and was made possible by endurance coaching company Prepped For Adventure, which helped Peter and Jess prepare for their journey. We hope you find the video as inspiring as we did. And if you haven’t already, be sure to check out the story of CyclingTips’ adventure to Central Asia, as published on the site in February 2019.
