Photo gallery: The savage beauty of the inaugural Atlas Mountain Race
In February 2020, 185 riders from 27 countries headed to Morocco for the inaugural edition of the PEdALED Atlas Mountain Race. This 1,150 km, single-stage, unsupported bikepacking race saw riders test themselves against each other and the harsh environment of the Atlas and Anti Atlas Mountains.
The race was as stunning as it was tough, taking riders on a tour of some of the most beautiful and remote parts of southern Morocco. They had to navigate old colonial roads, canyons, and sections of hike-a-bike, and in a little over seven days they had to journey from Marrakech to the Atlantic coast south of Agadir.

The race was won in an impressive 3 days and 22 hours, by French rider Sofiane Sehili, a veteran of the Tour Divide. The fastest female finisher was Canadian Jenny Tough who completed the course in 6 days, 3 hours and 13 minutes.
