Life Time acquires Crusher in the Tushar

Life Time, whose collection of events includes the Leadville Trail 100 MTB and Dirty Kanza, has acquired the Crusher in the Tushar.

The Utah gravel race, first run in 2011, is one of a growing list of popular endurance off-road events in North America. With over 10,000 feet of climbing, the Crusher starts in Beaver, Utah, takes racers into the Tushar mountains, and finishes at the Eagle Point resort.

Founder and director Burke Swindlehurt announced on Thursday that the race would be joining Life Time’s portfolio of events in a letter to Crusher participants. Swindlehurst wrote that he made the decision with the goal of “securing the future and legacy of The Crusher for many years to come.”

The former road racing pro explained that he was impressed with Life Time’s commitment to the communities that host its events. He also assured readers that he “remain at the helm” as Event Director, writing, “I want you all to know that the heart and soul of Crusher is here to stay. I’m not going anywhere.”

The acquisition of Crusher in the Tushar brings yet another big off-road race under the Life Time umbrella. The company bought the Leadville Trail 100 MTB in 2010, the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival in 2011, and the Dirty Kanza in 2018, and is launching the Big Sugar Gravel race next year in Bentonville, Arkansas.
